To me poured concrete is the best choice for ceilings in terms of durability. But then there are other factors to consider, such as the weight it supports and the ceiling area. Wood can provide additional support, especially for decks, balconies, and overhanging roofs. The roofing exterior is both an aesthetic and structural choice. Some of the most popular are tiles and bricks. Which are affordable.

China Mosiac (broken tiles ) in cement mortar can be used on roof which reflects sun rays and reduces heat observation. This is achived without much additional cost

If we follow the vaastu shasta for the orientation, planning and construction of residential/public places, house will be economical and fit for all weathers and climate also ,vaastu shastra is a science. |

I agree with the above points. Use of Vaastu Shastra for construction purposes not only is economical for all weather and climate, but it accomplishes before time and removes all the energy blocks and paves way to swifter progress. Its a complete science....
Yes I do agree on Mr. Dikshit view....I am a practitioner and turned professional and from my personal experience found that when we stick to the cardinal principles of Vaasthu not only it's economical ..you would accomplish completion before schedule. Neverthless we might have programmed our resources and planning, Vaasthu removes energy blocks and paves way to swifter progress...I know many would debate on this...but my experience and result stand as testimony
Cheers!!!

Here the choice here is mainly on the added features than the building material, since the material is standard for most walls. Ask your contractor about protective features such as sealing and reinforced studs, which gives structural strength to the walls and the Other features worth looking into are the shock-absorbent interiors and flame-resistant coats.

The skeleton structure of the building should be strong enough as per requirement , may be framed structure . Walls for such structures may not be load bearing hollow blocks, cavity walls etc. Walls of toilets and Kitchen may be finished with mosaic chips etc.

For me when it comes to flooring it becomes very hard to decide just because there is so many choices that you can make.. So choose one that fits your style, budget, and home decor. Recently Hardwood is the style which is seen everywhere and tiles are among the most popular choices, as they fit almost any sort of theme. Stone flooring is really expensive, but it lasts forever. So know what type of materials you want and which suits to your budget....

The materials mentioned by my dear friend emits/transmits heat in one form or the other - should these be recommended for Green Homes ? Also use of wood is not considered as environment friendly . The materials should be such that there is no heat formation at any stage and also it protects the environment.

i am a individual person and i choose the building materials like cement, steel, wood with reference of a consultant i.e.an architect or a contractors who is expert in this field. mostly the indivisuals who are upper middle class will choose with references of near by people or friends. high calss/rich people with go as per the specification of the consultants |

The meterial selection is totally depend on the budget. You can go for very fine finish and looks you will suffer high cost. But by adding some low cost technologies you can get good finish within a comparatively small budget such as using of "filler slabs, for tables and shelves using ferrocement slabs etc.." |

we have to find out the life of the material, cost, quality and user friendly.Quality is most important aspect when choosing the material.following are the points we should know while choosing the material. 1. will it possible to use as a building material, 2.what purpose we can use the material 3. is the material is having the required strength 4.will it be available with in the reach of the construction site. 5.what is the cost of the material. 6. will it be user friendly to the workers 7. is the material is passing all the quality tests(chemical charactors and others analysis) 8.is this material is better than the previous materials which is using at site. |

It depends on our budget & personal requirements to make a house look GOOD or GRAND or Just simple and spacious. Also LOCATION of project/type of soil is a main factor. If one prefers strictly marble flooring throughout then he/she may have to shell out more. If one thinks of SIMPLE he can go for ordinary tiles. Similar way all the other materials type of masonry, architectural views , Slope of roofs, type of windows, capacity of water storage tanks, etc.
