Hey Kavitha, this is another interesting topic to participate this day. All governments, NGO's, Forums, civic bodies and women's organisations are doing all they can for empowering woman and fight gender discrimination. Days such as International Womens Day and Mother's Day would come every year but things stand almost where they were previous year. Laws would be made and amended, promises made and broken but to me things shall change only when there's an undying unity in entire womanhood, be that of the country or even globally. The promises, policies, benefits et all has to come from the ones at top to all down under and this approach alone can empower all women in general. |

You have rightly put up Navjeet, women need to stand against the odds and come up with better ideas and with women holding top positions in all most all the areas they should get together and bring in the much required change, as till now we are seeing a monotonous way of Government all these years, and with more women joining in the forces will have a different perspective and new approach towards many things.
Kavitha, being a woman yourself and from the media fraternity I address this to you. Can a movement not be started using some acceptable vehicle from India, a country where woman holds posts as high as president, strongest political leader, chief ministers, CEO's? The call would have to come from top and travel down under, and that would be the only way Indian woman could takeon the Yadav's and likes, and why forget of Balakrishnan's also.
Being a man myself, I just pity these *&^% who do all to derive personal mileage, even if that's to put entire nation to shame.

When we talk about women empowerment in India the most important aspect that comes into the mind is the attitude of the society towards women. Women are still considered as burden and liabilities. They are also considered as properties. These kinds of attitudes give birth to the evil of violence against women. Women empowerment in India is not possible unless violence against women is eradicated from the society. National Commission of women was created in 1992 and Convention of elimination of all forms of discrimination against women was ratified in 1993. |

Kavita, It is the administrative failure all across the globe. All govts. and women does business with/against women in many developed and developing countries.
It is not a diffetent thing happening in India. Comitted administation has to move and implement stringent laws like that are in Gulf countries.
Would you agree madam ?

Hey, Kavitha you say still women are still considered as burden and liabilities. They are still considered as properties. The only way to empower women is to eradicate violence against them. Sorry to say but you have covered very little and saw only one face of coin. Do you feel, today’s women are ready to accept above attitude of society, men, No, they are not. The live example may be you, you will not accept above attitude at any level in society. Thus the process has begun where women are been treated equally or at par. Yes, I agree with you that people underestimates women’s potential and they are still fighting for their rights, but CHANGE HAS BEGUN. The key issues which need to be address are, low literacy rate, gender disparity on economic front, week participation in social and political front. Government is committed for bringing the improvement in above, now women’s may be getting 33% reservation, today they drive the home in metros (culture is spreading in second tier town as well), they are given equal opportunity for any job, they are into every field today. Rs.10,000 crore is invested for Sarv Siksha Abhian project ( every child has right for elementary education) across county for education, special schemes are run by central and state government for girl child. They just need to come forward and explore the opportunity and accept the challenges. No law, rules and regulation can fix a problem of discrimination or violence against women. They have to help themselves. There are people to support them, it may be in form of brother, father, husband, sister…..neighbor, society. EDUCATION AND MOTIVATION TO BRING THE CHANGE IN ITS LIFE CAN EMPOWER THE WOMEN’S. WOMEN’S CAN TOUCH ANY HEIGHTS. THERE IS EXAMPLE FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE TODAY. Probably each one of us has suggested different ideas to empower women but let's begun from small step, Just motivate the women’s around us the change can come …. Let's contribute our share by making our sister, daughter....neighbour realize that they are not less then anybody else in the world..... :-)) |

I beleive that most of the problems are there with women as they are ignorant about things. The best way to enpower the women is to educate them, the education will give them knowledge and the ability to think and understand what is right and what is wrong. We know that by educating one women in a family that almost solves all the problems of the family. there are many legislations in our country to protect women but the problem is they are not aware of it. The government, people like ua and the government must come together to educate women. Thus, as per my view education is the best weapon to enpower the women in our country. |

Shri Mahila Griha Udyog Lijjat Papad is a interesting socially oriented phenomena geared to women only. Since its inception in 1959 Lijjat has grown to employ over 42,000 women across India. The United Nations Millennium Development Goals are eight in number. The 3rd M.D. Goal is about Gender Equality and Empowering Women. What do we have to lose if things do not improve? Human intellectual resources that remain undereducated and undervalued. However, we will still have poverty. Increasing education in any manner coupled with the ambition to improve one's life and choices makes Lijjat a remarkable feat of female operated and owned entrepreneurship.

We ‘use’ and don’t respect a woman. We don’t treat them equal. We treat them as an entertainment and pleasure entity. We try finding ways to let them down.
As long as we don’t start respecting them from the bottom of our heart and start treating them as equal nothing will change. |

Imposing strict rigorous imprisonment and or capital punishment for offences against women.

I strongly feel that the best way to eliminate atrocities and violence against women is to punish the offender severely. Unlike other offences, here the offender should not be shown any mercy. For offences like molestation the Indian Law is silent.I think thats outrageous.Everyday millions of women feel unsafe bacause of this.Molestation cases are never reported why? because there are no punishments for the same. How can you libearte women when the women folk,be that a celebrity or a middle class working woman, or a poor girl, each one of them are subjected to molestation. So toliberate women "quotas" are not the only solutions..some strict laws and strict legal personnel are also required. |

Adding a pie to their hard-earned money and covering them with special insurances would go a long way in liberalising women. Working women require a supporting from family, a recognition at root to top level. Society should stop measuring women as 36-26-36 and start measuring their talent, enterprenuourship, mother-hood. Women will get empowered themselves. |

First of all The system of Reservation should be abolished, Then only the Women get Confidence, otherwise they always feel that they have grown on mercy and sacrifice of others. Or they should stop using the word "Equality" The questionof Equality doesn't arise where there is the system of Resevation. Fight on Merit and get equal opportunity. Reservation means tying the band on the eyes, legs and hands of perfect person and winning in fight in the arena. |
