Brand dilution is the weakening of a brand though its overuse. This frequently happens as a result of ill-judged brand extension. Price cutting that increases volumes but moves a brand down-market can be similarly damage a brand.

Is the same thing happening with IIT's in India. There has been a degradation in the brand image of IIT's in India. Are the internal factors responsible for it or the external one's. What is going wrong.....who has the solution for it??

Why there is a dilution in brand IIT??

Internal Issues

idea posted by Ritesh Program Manager Wipro Technolgies

Besides competition IIT is suffering form many internal issues. IIT's in India need to transform their internal structure of functioning & take it global standards. If they don't amake it fast then they will lose their charm.

Thus, a speedy & effective action plan is required.

Approach Students Differently

idea posted by Rajat Malhotra CTO TooStep

IIT's in India should use unique ways to attract more students. Since there is a tough competition in the market & all the institutions are using different techniques to market & attract students, IIT's should also go for some unique marketing strategy.

Its OK if they don't go for regular marketing but since other competitors are also fighting, IIT  should always have an affective & long lasting ad......

Competition

With the passage of time competition has also intensified. All the institutions are trying to provide the best services & attract the best brains.

Since, many institutions have come up with the facilities more or less to IIT's, they are giving a tough competition to the IIT's. As students have better options to go for rather than IIT's, the image of the IIT's has started diluting slowly.

Foreign Universities

idea posted by Vivek Pandey Senior Manager, Analytics, MakeMyTrip

Another reason for IIT's losing their image slowly is the entrance of foreign universities in India. It is obvious that western countries are better in the delivery of the education. Thus, students will generally prefer those universities to Indian colleges & universities.

Thus, there is urgent need to raise the standards of the institution.
