As I am reading from lot other sources I think that IT based standards and technologies are becoming prevalent in the lower layers of networks. IT players and system integrators are leveraging generic cross-industry solutions to compete in the telecommunications arena. Partnerships are essential and ecosystem management must become a core competence. |

I have seen a lot of Government departments shifting towards Leased Lines and VPNs

With meld of Telecom & IT, with Data and Multi-media gain predominance over Voice telephony and with discriminating factors between the type of backbone / distribution and end-links vanish, we will find that wired and wireless network will converge in the near future. With roaming and optimal routing, it will also be possible to provide full Number Portability, Network and Carrier selection in wired networks also much easier that the current proposals. The choice and the path to it is difficult but inevitable if the Telecom business has to survive and sustain especially among the majority rural population where further volume lies. |

Well, in next couple of years Enterprise telephony is going to see a huge revolution in India by moving on to VoIP technology. Convergence is the need of time. In advanced countries like US and Canada, even Universities and Schools are using the VoIP solutions. Companies like Avaya, CISCO, Siemens are targetting Asian markets and are likely to see heavy employment generations for the VoIP professionals
