There are lot of problems faced by the good talents in our country. Firstly, good talents don't get chance due to "QUOTA systems". Secondly, due to corruption also, they fail to show their talents. Because of all this, they migrate to other countries causing brain drain. They develop those countries and our country stays behind in the race due to its own policies. |

No Dout indians are skilled, but the thing matters is that are the skilled resources in India payed enough? This is one of the frank fact that people tend to move abroad....,. Are the skilled resources once hired given the right Job as promised while hiring.. most of the answers are Big NO NO.. this is one of the resons India is still a developing country which we were listening from our child hood.
I do agree with Sumitra's opinions except for Quota Systems. If Quota Systems are not there, India could never come up. Further situation would be even worse.
Its BRAIN DRAIN. Its the fascination of all things called USA or ABROAD!! Its all about the peer pressure that makes people send their kids abroad because the neighbors kid is already abroad!!
Politics is not even remotely connected. Human and its emotions, period!!

our current system needs some amendments ours is examination oriented system .we r just focusing on scoring rather than concept development so we must encourage monthly or weekly projects based system. |

I agree with you, our educational institutes should tie up with industry and provide required platform to create skilled professionals.
I fully agree with all the points mentioned by Jay. He is 100% correct
R & D works should be increased

We did not / could not give our engineers enough jobs to test their skill in actual fields. Giving them 'certificates' are not enough. Mind-set of general Indians are in favour of 'status-quo' and they are not 'development hungry'. We lack in new sites and finance for more and more projects to come up. Acquiring site-lands for projects have become a 'terrible' thing in India in recent times. Example : disputes in case of "Singur" in WBengal. Govt. also failed to make enough investments in infrastructure developments. Another problem is with the work-force. They lack in devotion, not hard working type, do not finish the work as per schedule and do not want to migrate in case of need.

Our population is very large after China when area is taken in to consideration, we are not able feed our population at par with world standared. So whatever development takes place will be absorbed by these population vanishing development without being seen anywhere. We have largest railwy, best banking system, software professional are best graded etc etc. Further our skilled and expert manpower migrate to other global area for better value. If you look in to the population density of Canada, America and similar other countries you may notice that their population density is very law when compared to ours. |

China's population is more when compared to India, their overall economic development is less compared to ours. I do not say population alone the factor contributing the development of the country but it is one of the factors, also I do not speak generally but I talk about India exclussively. All the factors shall contribute at optimum to be a developed nation.
Dear Mr Prabhu,
Population alone is not the factor you would reckon with China example.
Missing discipline is, the differentiating factor.

The statement "India has world's 3rd largest pool of engineers" might seem big but people tend to ignore the under lying realities, which is that around 70-80% of this pool is useless (in the field in which they have done their graduation). Most of these graduates chose the field of their choice due to "Herd mentality" or "Good job prospects" in mind. (I had discussed about this topic in this forum under the topic What should be done to help the young generation of India to choose a right career path"). I have seen first hand how people just about pursue any popular course for the above mentioned reasons or in the name of fulfilling someone else's dreams and end up doing their job(if they get one) half-heartedly. Graduates emerging with this kind of mentality can be tapped by in projects where there is assembly line kind of work, where the person is given work broken into pre-determined, well-defined tasks. For the rest of the 30-20% candidates the issue is of performing to their skill levels and improving it further. If they land up amidst low potential workers, there is a good chance of their edge being blunted as well. Only when they have healthy competition, will they be able to produce value accretive results whether it be in the form of a product or a service. India has seen the outcome of such an undertaking where brilliant people are brought together with projects like Integrated Guided Missile Development Program", "Konkan rail project", "ISROs PSLV project" in the govt. controlled sector and some like the "Nano car project" in the private sector. So what is required really is to get the basics right at the educational level and then provide a proper competitive work environment. |

The main problem is the poverty.Everyone should see the statistics of poverty of our Nation. How can we expect to be develop with so many poor family in India. If we will not allow good and free education for them we can not expect anything from them. There are very few examples that a poor becomes Engineer/Scientist/Doctor.We have to think practically. |

Be it Engineers them selves or policy makers or regulators or Investors. Placing individual interests to forefront, missing on industry-academics connectivity, thought independence, innovation getting discouraged, long tags/degrees and never utilisation of learning finding importance results are on expected lines. Yet to hear any Institution, looking to interact or appreciate the........... Jugaad inventor.

Would vouch for Personal Interest over National Interest probably due to monetary factors; personally have been a witness and of course priveleged to work alongside highly qualified engineers over the last couple of years overseas in the GCC & African markets.
Highest number of Indians work for development work in developed countries.
Highest number of Engineers have switched domain streams.
Another noticeable feature is missing out on innovation, research and inventions as it is not encouraged.
|
|
We have a good number of engineers in our country .But we are not getting full out of them.I feel 1.We do not have good research organizations who make inventions 2.Our engineers and technocrats do not take risk due to fear of failures. 3.Private organizations do not contribute much for research 4Procedures and procedural delays are making public sector in effective, though the government sector selects the best in the market but doe not get best out of them 5Lack of motivation due to seniority and reservations in public sector makes the engineers lethargic. 6.We should create knowledge banks. Organizations like HEC import russian design drawings.but do not make any attempt for improving them for future .Fed back from real users are not taken. 7It is sad that we still depend on PRChina, Russia,Germany foir technology transfer in Iron and steel making also. Development will not only come from just the education alone. The academic/industry people should work on the problems faced by people of India. We need to find the solutions for these problems and we need to start the companies for these problems. That means, the problems have to be converted as solutions and finally they should float the companies for the requirements of Indian conditions. This will give the actual development. Whereas most of the students who are coming out of IITs, NITs, IISCs, IIMS, etc., are working in developed countries for their problems. Even if 100% engineers are coming from India and if they won't work on problems of India, we cannot develop. My request is work for the "Problems of India". Indian people are facing lots and lots of problem. If any one solution is coming out then one company may be established at least few Indian engineers can work. The cycle should go like this. |

Dear Mr Swamy,
Agree with you cramming up work done by others will not lead to development.
We have to create a healthy continual interaction between academia, industry and the needs of populace.
Our problems require our analysis and our own solutions. Importing the technology resource and material that too mostly outdated is not in best interests of country. Asides higher costsand underutilisation, it causes rusting of knowledge sources.

private institutes just make business of engineering colleges. if 30% engineers come from govt. olleges, then 70% dominated by private funded colleges. from where , good engineers will come. Govt. should make strict policies to increase standards of colleges & course structure. Also, a better central placement deptt. should be there for every fresher & so on.. a long GD on this issue. |

Our educational system is totally skewed. Now a days it is a fashion for everbody to talk about the importance of education. The Government itself is unaware of the definition of "EDUCATION". The net result is nothing but chaos. In earlier days even with lesser knowledge availablity, a 5th std. pass was enough for workmen, 8th Std. for semi-skilled workers, 10th std for skilled workers and white collar jobs, 1 to 2 year ITI training for most of the Engg. workmen and 3 year diploma for Engg. supervisory staff. University degrees post graduation were needed only for reasearch oriented jobs. Now, in India, instead of giving them the knowledge and skills required and quickly make them employable for the much needed farming and trade related jobs, the UPA government has decided to scrap terminal exam. in 10th std.level. Even the government aim seems to make every one a university degree holder, nothing less. Look what is happening around. While millions are rotting without any job, engineering graduates are doing the technicians job for which only an ITI or Diploma is required, Degree holders are doing call centre jobs, and clerical works. MBA's are doing routine white collar and accountanats jobs. MBBS guys are doing work of compounders and head nurses. In the end, those who manage to get the jobs, become frustrated soon and do not do justification to the job becuase these are much below their level of education. On the other hand millions are rotting without employment, because there is no system to make them employable by giving them the right level of education that is needed for the massive farm and trade related job opportunities. With the new system, even those who manage to complete 10th std. do not get even secondary school leaving certificate and deprived of the opportunity to earn a living by getting an appropriate job. |

Dear Mr Abraham,
Why blame the Government alone. How much the corporate world is investing in innovation, new developments and research. Even retail models are copied with hardly any change in design plan or process content.
|
|
People in our country, dont take a initiative to start a business... they want to play safe... People having a good financial back ground are willing to take the risk.. there are lack of opportunities (i mean good opportunities) in india , thats why they go to some foreign countries and earn there... |

The government policy is to be blamed.... Setting up state of the art industries bringing in technology would compliment a huge engineer base which India has. By defacto due to a large population & the educational system that we have we churn out zillion sets of engineers.....You need a terrific industrial sector to stare at them or else you have to just stare at a situation called brain drain. Having IIT's / REC's are not enough. Improve the industry, make the system transparent & only then you can see sustainable development... Otherwise you are expanding like a giant cylinder which is going to be hollow inside. Developed/ Not developed is a relative term and how each one looks at it....We grow @ 7% avg annually still 30% of our engg move out every year....

First thing we are underdeveloped, just developing our selves what we need and what would be done. The politicians always search for vote bank for that they will do what they want. Political corruption is the major hurdle for underutilization of INDIAN ENGINEERS. Now a days, all industrial units, infrastructure companies and other industries all belongs to political leaders only. For development of their industry they can break any law/procedure using their political power. |

Everyone has a problem in hand. Everybody is thinking about how to get out of this. Everybody is also devising a way out of his personal trouble. But are we thinking that it’s not only me who is facing this problem? We all are busy in delivering the project assigned on or after the timelines given. I believe we are good enough for developing the product/solution if someone defines the product/solution. We need people who see problems as the problems of the masses. This will lead us to devising these products/solutions. Then let everybody else follow in using the products which we devise rather than devising a product for someone else and then use the same product once this guy comes back and sell same product to us. |

The entire syllabus and methods of teaching in India donot give confidence to the student to do something on his own. This hampers enterpreneurship and students cannto do anything on their with the education obtained by them. They are forced to look for a job and have no clue or confidence to implement their ideas. Indians are not daring and are averse to risk in general. China has developed as a manufacturing economy as every chinese engineer can make or copy a machine or product on his own with the education he received. They also dare and take risk. |

Indian Engineers/Scientists/Educationalists/Politicians are required to FOCUS on DEVELOPMENT ONLY and all other things are secondary. If we consider Philips, Japanese company started immediately after World War II and became a huge success at Global presence. Though we are having great pool of Intellectuals in wide areas and having versatile strengths, all that is on the papers. Ground reality comes here, all work for other countries and others to make money. In my opinion, at least the younger generation should have an eye for inventions from here and take them Global.Government should accept all the ideas and innovative thoughts without CORRUPTION. For instance if any one wanted to develop a system to stream line the Traffic or Cleaning systems or Identification, one has to go through all the levels of bureaucracy to get the ideas approved. At all the levels one has to pay bribe them, for processing the files, and live with lots of patience to get the project work approved. Unless our Government thought process has changed, we cannot shift from Developing to a Developed Nation. If Govt. accepts ideas, we can implement lots of systems which will be used by the Government.
Acceptance for Innovative ideas and Patenting Law should be stronger. Stopping here. Regards

India may have a large pool of talented engineers, but it has a very poor infrastructure. It has lack of government support for healthy business development and innovation. One can become a much successful person in career in a western country spending say 5 years. In India, you can become nothing spending 5 years of hardwork and efforts. Or atleast u will lag far behind your collegues who have gone abroad. That's why people prefer to go abroad, as soon as they get the chance. |

So g+ is trying hard to survice now we have brand pages on g+ too. To add to this they have added game apps to lure people. but are there enough people to make this work? Will game apps do any good to g+? |
Yes sir the product is really good but it is designed for different purpose. It is mostly used for military purpose. |
This might sound odd to many but yes laptops are not tough. They can break and get damaged and you will regret if this happens. So the best thing to do is to protect it the best way possible. There is just one laptop Tough book which will not... |
