America’s worsening economic climate and incendiary political rhetoric could end up hurting the fortunes of India’s $50-billion outsourcing industry as US firms start avoiding overseas contracts fearing a backlash from skittish politicians. When just hiring was on its feet this quarter...suddenly there is news of election in US in November and to please US and to protect their interests they are making sure jobs are restored back in US.

So, with 50 billion outsourcing industry facing difficulties ahead, How can India have economic prosperity even after outsourcing bans??

Uncomplicate the TAX structure in all levels&supplement by easing Environmental&Infrastructural tangles faced by Entrepreneur

idea posted by Deeso Manjila Head - FTZ

This US of A decision shows how fading economies are now following India - Political Rhetoric when politicians either fail in their big time commitments thrown to electorate during election process or when poorly fail in delivering simple administration helping all strata of economies. To show our capability, we should reduce our defence, aerospace dependencies on US organizations and look towards other players in Europe, Japan, Brazil etc.

Background and politically stable environs of China will not be possible in Indian scenario especially when all political decisions here are piggybacking on the vote bank consolidations & constructions. At-least till the time we have politicians who has sharp understanding of ground realities across the country and also have political will power to call a spade a spade, as a country we would be dependant on external factors like markets of US, Europe(west) etc.

As a medium-short term step on a strategic level, if as an economy, our TAX structure panning all segments like EXIM, Corporate, Services, Personal Incomes etc etc should be much more simpler, transparent and less oriented towards evasion but more oriented towards inclusion. When these barriers comedown, geographical imbalances should be addressed simultaneously by plugging the infrastructural deficits & internal security deficits. Current trend by NGO's and even ministries to wag the environment card for self-upmanship is destructive than constructive.

Long Pending reforms in Primary, Higher & Professional Education sectors, Police Departments & Judiciary if properly implemented will jettison the social shackles & under-development. Economical development side-by-side the social development is the ultimate key for minimal dependence on any other entity for a country like ours - whether its other economies, financial institutions, big lenders etc.

I don't believe in the loss to India, because of the ban. Its a loss to US. They don't have quality and the quantity of resource which is needed to keep them market leaders. US reached the top of economic prosperity because of international trade which invented outsourcing. They will loose that edge to competitors specially European and Japanese or even Chinese and Indians. With Outsourcing, India learned international trade at a very big level. Prosperity of India is because of these trade lessons. We should be sorry for them till they discover their loss and get back to old ways. Further, US is still recovering from economic slowdown. Unemployment has gripped the country and India should give them helping hand, instead of complaining and loosing them as clients in future. As a democracy, we now have case studies from the economic mistakes of US. Best bet for India is to get into product development of the services, they already provided, and market it internationally. What say?

LIBERALLY FUNDED BY US EMPLOYERS.A part of the savings in outsourcing can easily be allocated to NREGS IN US.

Any restrictive trade practices should get the attention of WTO. The problem is neither Indians could be recruited under HI Visa nor the job can be outsourced.

Both the Nations want to safeguard one's own economy. Nothing wrong in that but as all the Nations are moving towards having a stake in Global economy, the solution has to be from Global perspective.

Lack of skilled manpower in USA at a lower cost to the organization is at the heart of the matter. Organizations look at resources available Globally instead of looking at problem solving locally.

Developed countries have to take a leaf out of developing countries. NREGS in India is not only to save people from hunger but also sustain them to take advantage of opportunities that are arising through level playing field out of education.

Similarly, the advanced counties can not expect a double digit growth in their economy as they have reached certain level already and skill sets are  changing due to changes in technology development. Until the skilled manpower demographics change, they have to look for out of box thinking to solve the present problems they face as going against by the forward moment of Globalization, no economy can survive.

Replicate Chinese model

India should realize that there is no shortcut to sustained economic growth. Only infrastructure building and a strong manufacturing base will lead India to economic proposperity. This is no telecom market where you can step up to a higher economic plane without a strong infrastructure and manufacturing base. Service alone will nor suffice to sustain domestic growth , we will always be at the whims of other nations who will obviously put national interest first. Simply replicate the Chinese model and you can't go wrong. since western economies will find it easier to go after the service sector imports than the manufacturing imports

India should start mass quality production and promote more export. We will be able to compete China in price in the world market due to the low labour cost compared the world standard. We should balance the Outsourcing with the production and export.

India need Products-based Software companies

idea posted by Shobhit Agarwal Software Engineer, KONY Labs

Any nation can ban outsourcing a job out software-product companies headquartered in there nation to go offshore, but can anyone really ban purchase of a software product, from foreign companies.

But can anyone name, one single big product-based software industry in India. US didn't ban export of their manufacturing to China, as they knew they will face compation from chinese companies itself, but what about Indians. They will anyways continue to "serve" just US based "MNC-Client" and take pride in that and will just cry foul when their service-charges are reduced.

It not a matter what government should do, or what Obama shouldn't have done... Its about what we the software engineers speaking here, can do...
Go Experiment, Innovate.. set up your own company headquartered in India, no one can ban that.....if not possible, just join some small product based company to make it big.

Thanks Sonam. Now is the time to hit the middle and lower end of the pyramid. US is not the only frontier to be explored. If they are adopting the policy of protectionism then we should concentrate on expansion into other frontiers. The opportunities are many it is only the case of finding them and exploiting them to your advantage. We have to move on.

It time to leave behind the mad outsourcing work , and go seriously after innovative products. For a long time we have  been known for our services (and for less prices too ) , we really need to address the problems of the domestic market . And this really has a huge potential .
