The symbol should be something that would reflect some aspects of indian culture or india as a whole. It should be free of any pictures or images. It should be distinct & attractive & appealing. |

Since all colors,denominations(e.g.,satya mayo jayate,15 languages) on Indian rupee represent socio-cultural,linguistic sentiments of people;so,symbol should reflect Indian culture.
well ofcourse, it should reflect Indian culture and should be unique as well as user friendly!
yes it should reflect the Indian Culture and ethos....particularly the present day mind set. It should also be simple and easy to write.
How about R with vertical line on it ? I am not trying to copy the US dollar but it would be more logical to have this and would be easy to write.

You are wrong that it is known as Rs. which is common term for india, pakistan etc. but in international scenario, on financial institutes front, banks, currency converters everyone known that INR is Indian Rupee. |

Abbreviated form and symbols of currencies of all countries have existed ever since and yes, I agree with Jaideep since Indian Rupees is already known as INR world over. So what if we do not have a symbolic representation to Indian Rupee, I'm sure no further value would be added just by symbolising the currency. Government would first propose and create a symbol, and then spend tons of money in altering the infrastructure and popularising it.
Agree with Jaideep, for the sake of ease we should adopt it.

Rupee concerns money and international status means similarity with international norms. Now established currencies like American Dollar and British Pound have symbols of one letter with a vertical line. Thus it does not make any sense to link the symbol with culture. My suggestion is Letter R with a vertical line. |

1.The idea of Mr Tata shown separately at serial no 4 is the same as mine. it should ,therefore, be shown supporting my idea.
2.Appreciation or depreciation is not shown by any currency symbol. So remark of Ms Prerna is not clear.
But how can u come to know currency appreciate or depreciate.

The symbol should be understandable to the common man in India. We know that still there is a huge amount of illiteracy is existed in India, therefore we need a currency symbol which can be understandable to those people in the country. Other factors such as culture, international acceptable, etc., I hope they are less importance than our own people. |

the symbol can be used as it replicates the asoka chakra......3 lions symbolised by 2 brackets on either side and the centre lion by straight line |

It should be Indian rupee only because economy may fall down and problems will arise for international trade. |
