This is a very critical question to ask, especially for those applying to positions with generic functional descriptions. |

I agree with Darshana. A candidate should primarily be concerned with how vital his/ her position would be in the company, how good or bad it might be to work in that company, what the company is all about and if they might be comfortable in that position. These questions could be good to ask. Also there are many other questions that the candidate could and/ or should ask. It depends on the stage of the interviewing process.
it is one and the same thing asking role to be define.
Sure I would like to ask this question but 9 out of 10 times ,as luck would have it,this is the first question from the interviewer,"Given you are selected what will be your contribution to the organization ?" and hope my chances will not be very bright, once I tell "that was supposed to be my question !".That was in lighter vein.I agree its always better to know the depth of the pool before plunging in for a swim.

Significance of the question is that it is important for the candidate to understand the company, its vision, growth trajectory, work environment , remuneration policies and people practices, beyond perception in the market. |

I support this idea. This is critical information to understand the company and background of hiring.
In fact, I ask this kind of question like "what is the business trend of the company?", which I think is easier and more comfortable for your potential employer to answer.

The first question must be, what is my profile and job role which impacts that really you are a responsible guy. After that you can go further by highlighting that your dedication towards job and growth of the company, more over you can also discuss about the work environment and chance for creativity up come which really puts a positive impact. |

I'm completely agree with you that role defination should be the first question only then we can lead the interview towards the right end.
thanks!
Most candidates are so anxious at the time of the interview, this is the one question they always forget. What is the role definition for which you are interviewing me? It should always be the first question.
Organisations undertaking various projects as a social committment though CSR, show that Organisation is not money or profit oriented but It gives importance to ethical business practices, has concern for environment in which it is making progress. This means, the work environment is inclusive & Positive for a new employee, or candidate sitting for interview because no organisation can think of CSR before its own employee are satisfied with the way organisation works. So if organisation has CSR active, it means Employee have good scope in working environment.

It is not that you will continue to work the same for all the time what you have been doing till date so ask for example of someone who in the company has achieved something or reached to top management from the role you are being recruited for. However it is not important if you have habit of changing companies in every 2-4 years. if you wish to stay-work-achieve something you must know there is full scope of opportunities. |

First he should not be tensed while asking any question. He should have a positive role in mind. He can enquire about, without offending the interviewer things like what his role in the organisation going to be, CSR, Employee satisfaction level, Environmental issues. But all the while one thing he should keep in mind is that he is not an inspector but only enquiring these things and these things concerns him and the society at large. |

As a prospectus employee one should know about the company's philosophy and see how well one's own philosophy can gel with that. If it is in line, it essentially guides the employee for right action in every step and this is actually a great emotional booster for the employee to work for the company whole heartedly. |

A set of etiquette is important for any person working in the corporate world. Many things may annoy others and many things can stop your promotion, block that appraisal. What should be kept in mind at work place? |
Do you believe the CEOs are paid outrageous salaries? |
Loyalty is better in long term. Though it depends that for whom are you working. Jumping jobs is not a solution for anything. |
