A portfolio with thousands of stock will provide adequate diversification

idea posted by Arijit Sarkar Investment Advisor, Deutsche Bank
A portfolio of 15-30 stocks does not provide adequate diversification. It is true that a 30-stock portfolio has no more short-term volatility than the market, there is more to risk than day-to-day fluctuations as long term return will be too low.Owning thousand of stocks all over will minimize the risk.

Valuation

idea posted by Anup Bera Investment Advisor, Standard Chartered

In an investment banking, the managing director figures out what reasonable valuation number he is going to need to tell the client in order to win the business. It then becomes the associate’s job to work backward to figure out a way to display analysis that will validate the target value. So I say always follow your own calculations.

Risk Factors

idea posted by Rohini Sondkar Investment Advisor, Kotak Mahindra

Today, there are maybe one or two risk factors that are relevant, really relevant, for any given deal. The rest is window dressing, but there’s so much of this extraneous window dressing that the relevant risk factors get ignored. So know your area and stay focused to it.

Selected Financial Data

I use this section to highlight how the specific company is a cash generating machine. The investment bankers and accountants choose the figures, graphs, and charts that make the company look the best, no matter how poor the company’s revenue generating abilities actually are. So beware of such ploys.

You are right sandip. I don't understand why people mix politics with sport. It would have been nice, if you would have created a debate on this platform on the same issue.
