I'm trying to envision the application
of such technology. Why not simply use Bluetooth, WiFi, EVDO, etc..
Even with low risk, people are already paranoid about cancer caused by
cell phones, now you want to actually transmit through the body?

Actually there is one massive application I had not thought of earlier.
Any HAN device which can interpret brain activity and hormone / emotion
levels and can interact with another person's HAN device in a feedback
loop to their brain activity and hormone / emotion levels has
tremendous application. It could be used to create an absolute police
state or to enable a loving couple to get closer to each other then
ever possible before, plus innumerable other applications. I think this a unique idea!

Ability to move information to where it is the most useful
and sharing it among multiple applications is most important in networking
That said there are huge impediments. Others have already mentioned power. Devices need extremely low power consumption so they are able to extract power from their environment. This frees user from responsibility of managing power on a myriad of devices. Security – it is extremely difficult to keep data “confined” once it is captured. Hardening networked devices has proven to be not just difficult but virtually impossible. Wireless is a very hostile environment. Adoption will probably be generational. The more technology one grew up with the more accepting of adopting next step. |
