There are many instances where an candidate joining as Management trainee in the same organisation gets promoted in the years and holds a position of Chairman / Managing Director. Providing naturally leadership direction to the company.

Many might have joined as Management Trainee and might have not grownup. There shall be no luck or favorism, coz everyday will not be an lucky day and he will tumble & favour shall not have long withstanding capability.

Wht you think may be the differentiator ? Education might not because Management trainee shall be joining after Graduation.

Why only one person can rise up to that level and why not all ?

Wht steps one should take if he aspires that position ?

Dedication towards work

idea posted by Punam Dutta HR Executive , Eduquity Career Technologies Pvt Ltd

It would have been great if you have initiated with a idea.... :)

I feel dedication towards work is the major differentiator. Normally everyone won't be dedicated to their work. I completely believe that success is through only dedication. So obviously he would be the best performer than his peers, so he climbs the ladder....

I think this is the key to that top position.

I support your views, Punam.

I guess I have not been able to fathom the question completely but dont you think passion would lead to dedication and not the other way round. The obvious choice would be someone who has all the attributes.

For me passion would be the clear differentiator.

The most important characteristic of a leader is the ability to envision the future, and articulate it in a manner that the entire organization buys in passionately and responds wholeheartedly. This is easier said than done. Hence we have so many managers and so few leaders. The iconoclast scholar Henry Mintzberg has maintained for decades that leaders are born not made. The implications are that certain traits of leadership are ingrained into our genetic imprint. Only if some traits are present would it be possible to refine and mould them into something better. The leader invariably looks at the "big picture" while managers are happy to look at the micro-level details. Sure, some qualities can be developed through hard work, perseverence, dedication, empathy etc. If this was completely possible, how does one explain Bill Gates' proclamation early on in the evolution of the PC that one day he would like to see a computer in every home. Please remember also that Bill Gates is a college dropout. His emergence as one of the great business leaders of our time (even if at times controversial) is standing testimony to the importance of early childhood experiences and the environment in which we grow as being the harbingers of leadership rather than formal education.

From the passion inside us it leads to dedication in our work, love for those we are working with and accepting them and what they can do. through this love we are able to assist those that are new in the work place or those that need guidance and this inturn leads to respect for each other in the work place..furthermore what is the need for dedication towards work when you do not love the job? And can you work alone in an organisation without the help of others? definately you can't handle all the work by yourself.

Extrodinary Capability, Intellegnce, Lead the Team

Its really difficult to identify the person who grows and leads the organisation with climbing the organization within the span of 10 to 20 years. The capability of an person is identified during the performance appraisals. The dicession making capacity & intellengce benchmark to take higher responsiblity. The ability to lead the team gives an greater exceptance from & within the group makes him true leader.

Offcourse Destiney plays the role............. where luck favours and grows high....... any take frnds?
