Though this was a issue which happened earlier, but is happening on a regular basis all these years, where politicians are not attending Government offices and will be staying in their state and looking after the party and other issues than doing their respective job which is given to them, than handling their ministries & its functions, they don't even bother to attend office and cabinet meetings, when have we seen a complete attendance in any lokh sabha or Rajya sabha sessions.

What can be done against this people? And according to you which other politician do you think is absconding from their office like this? Lets bring out names here in the public, as they are the public servants in the first place.

idea posted by Ayan Choudhury Sr/Principal Corespondent, Leading media House

If they cannot attend office and like to spend time in their home, let them stay in their home forever. No need to come to office or take part in official works. No need to work for the government. Just sack them Fire them, kick them out from their office. These people don't deserve this responsible jobs

I think Lalu is one kind of person like this. He controls his whole party sitting in his office among his buffaloes....LOlz

Absolutely, no waste of time..look for a replacement and fire them with 24 hours notice. They deserve no mercy and moreover, are wasting hard earned money of the public and travelling up and down between Kolkata and Delhi.

if she can not attend the office of the ministry she should resinr the post and leave the politices as politices is not joke. if she prefer to become politician she must joine office meeting parliament sessieon. and all worke that is in the publice intrest. if she can not do she must resine the post of minister and post of member of parliament spend as a ordinary citizen.

It is not a word of a responsible minister. If she is not Delhi based then why she did agree to be a central minister rather than a state minster. If she want to do better for his constitution rather than whole country then she has no right to become central minster because she can do same work after becoming state minister. Such an answer of irresponsible leader.

Also make a provision for future in which we include a fixed attendance in parliament with work for his post otherwise replacement with another one.

IT IS REALLY SHOCKING TO NOTE FROM ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PORTPOLIO MINSTER (RAILWAYS) OPENLY SAYING THAT I WLL BUDGE OFFICE SINCE I AM NOT FROM DELHI.  THEN WHY DID SHE OPT FOR RAILWAY THE KEY MINISTRY?

THE CHEMICAL MINISTER MR ALAGIRI IS NOT ATTENDING PARLIAMENT SECESSION FOR REASON HE CANT SPEAK HINDI AND WANTED TRANSILATOR

THE BEST SOLUTION IS TO STOP ALL BENEFITS. ONE THING IS CERTAIN THESE POLITICIANS ARE GOOD IN EXPLOITING THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND CAN MAKE ANY NUMBER OF EMPTY PROMISES FOR THEIR OWN BENEFITS

Yes this is a problem with every politician. If he is not in his contituency than it is said that they are not looking after their contituency and when they are not in their ministry it is said that he is not attending to the work assigned. A person can not be present at two places at one point of time. To overcome this problem they can have video conferencing on a daily basis. I have seen persons managing their offices from as far places as US and getting the results from the staff. Yeah you might say the result will not be 100 %. O.K. but the situation will improve.

I find this is a logical understanding of the issue. Any person cannot be expected in two places at the same time and a politician is none but a human being (in India too!). I believe we expect here too much from politicians, almost placing them in a deity's position. I remember a senior journalist's comment in NDTV program I was watching on Friday last that she was happy not being a politician in India (while commenting on sm recent politician's mistake on making public statements). CEO's are attending video conferences with office while holidaying with families abroad which is not at all illogical. But ministers here are expected to work round the clock, 365 days a year, year after year and be omnipresent!

There is another problem in understanding India in ourselves - the elite educated Indians - I guess. India is not only Delhi, not a federation of a few states in western part of the country, not union of few Dravidian-speaking states in southern part or not an organisation of some China-bordering states in northern part - India means a big Union of multicultural, multi-dimentional, multi-lingual states covering almost 3300000 sqkm, looking after which is not at all possible sitting at the Capital. I think that is why ministers are selected from the regions too and not all from the capital metro of India.

The politicians need to balance between politics and the responsibility given to them for the nation building. I think the modern gadgets should be fully used for administration and one complete team of TSG(Technical Support Group) should be attach to each minister for better functioning.

Hello Ayan, Refer to Mr. R.N Bhattarcharyya's Suggestion may  be suitable for the private company. The same will not work out for Government Organization. Private company executive and staff will be very efficient and complete their job on time. Only our prime minister can interfere and to sort out this issue. Hope you will agree on this.

Dear Manoj and Ayan,

While Mamata may have the decency to at least admit albeit rather adamantly their are others who are practicing without a sound bite for much longer.....remember Chemicals ministry for instance.

And there are yet many more who may come to office and do everything except which may be required.

Yet, ultimately WHO CARES??? is the right word, it so appears.

Is retaining a Government so important for an honest PM that he as to let corruption and chaos happen all around? Where will such continuing compromises lead the country to.....

We cannot make this an excuse friend, If Politicians themselves don't understand their respoinsibility, these things will never stop. These irresponsible people should be immedeately fired.

Central Minister's eye on CM post .. replacement required

idea posted by ASOKE KUSARI Domestic Private Banking-Executive/Manager, A large leading PSU Bank - India

Ms. Mamata Banerjee ( now only Mamata, she writes ), from the very beginning, made it clear that she wants to be the CM of WBengal. She was offered a vital post in Central by our Prime Minister.

UPA Chairperson, PM and Congress, had to surrender to her demand of becoming Rly Minister for the sake of coalition politics. She wanted to "utilize" the resources, glamour and reach of Rly to attract WB voters in in fold of Trinunool. (blackmailing ... perhaps).

She never believes in the Collective Responsibility of a Ministerial team and often shows her decent against her own Govt and its Ministers. Example : against Chidambaram for his antiMaoists stances etc.

She runs her party in : One and only leader theory. Remains mostly in Kolkata for narrow politicking. Has turned an old and legacy organisation, the Indian Rly into an organ of vote catching machine  ( democracy mis-utilized ? )

When our PM knows all these, why he may not ask her to vacate her Ministerial berth in favour of some one .. even from her party ( well before 2011 State Assembly Vote in WB ?)

There should be a mandatory attendance for MP's in Parliament, disregarding the fact that Mamata Banerjee is not attending. I fully agree with Mr.Ravindra Sharma, earlier so many MPs had even worse attendance. Mamata at least admitted the fact.

Ministry or Independent Body to monitor Performance

idea posted by Ravindra Sharma Managing Consultant, CHEF-India

It is not her alone most ministries and ministers, urgently require continual monitoring. It will not be a bad idea to set up a separate body vehicle for the purpose. The best idea would be to have professionals manage this body without any political interventions and report matters to various Rajya Sabha committees for parliamentary follow up.

idea posted by Basudev Mahapatra Head of News & Content (Broadcast), HOTnHIT Newsfeatures (HNF)

It's fine that Mamta wants to be at her place and work for the people of her own state and constituency. In fact, it lacks in most of our leaders who forget the constituency between the elections.

But, if she can't attend the office, Mamta must refuse to the ministrial berth and stay with people of her own state. Otherwise, she will prove herself unfit to be a minister and an irresponsible leader.

They should be made accountable like an employee who is given a raise or removed by the boss after having a look at his performance.</p>

Need born leaders not a made leaders.

idea posted by KALIYAMOORTHY Oil & Gas Area Coordinator, Undisclosed

These are the maladies of the Coalition govt. The political managers themselves do not find a solution by virtue of its minority / generosity. People needs to understand this kind of problem when voting. At-least they need to give majority to some party to rule over- may be a regional / national one. Neither, now ,do the people has nor do the govt has the power to control these kind of behaviors.I hope, Parliament is not a school either where every individual is trained for a particular purpose. If Parliament are meant for training these political leaders, where do we go for services for which they are elected?. Our trend shows parliament is a place where these guys are meant to be trained. Alas! Rule is to be changed ," Leaders are born but not trained/made". We have only trained leader not a born leaders. Look for people with born leadership qualities. With present scenario continues, at-least make it a point in the agreement  when forming govt that, they need to attend parliament without fail & possibly , a justification to the cabinet for absenting. However, this kind of hide and seek play will not help, unless the people who mandates try understand it better. COALITION may not control but, allow a bit liberal attitude to these guys.

I understand and agree that you all have put your ideas against Ms.Banerjee for she is not attending office and I liked her idea of eccentric office. Communication is developed so much that you can work from anywhere, we do it in sales. But you should be a doer.

What matters here is how much work is affected because of her personal interest???

Ms.Banerjee had very clear goal while joining govt and she is focused on it, and the bad part is the goal is self centered. It appears that this time she might succeed as well. I pray that ministers become so focused on public interest.

Thanks to the Tech. Convergence, with which Today, telecommuting is possible. She can perform her duties as a Union Cabinet Minister, sitting anywhere on this Earth and travel to Delhi only when it is absolutly necessary like, Cabinet Meetings, Inter Ministerial Meeting, Inra-Ministerial Briefings, etc.

If only corporate world too adapt the telecommuting our economy would save a lot of travel, camping, etc. expenses.
