Just a crazy idea...I dont know whether something has been done in this direction already. Can we copy the basic solar cells that are already existing in nature from time immemorial? With the advances in organic chemistry, mimicking the photosynthesis reaction should not be a problem. We will be basically trapping solar energy and producing some sort of carbohydrate, say glucose. This can be used as food...or fermented to produce ethanol which can suitably be used as fuel in different industries. Challenge will be to perform the photosynthetic reaction more efficiently than nature already does. |

Excellent Idea . I do appreciate this idea. In fact in this direction not much fundamental research is being done and that day when really we will be successful in capturing solar energy exactly in the form the plant life fetches, that day it will be consider as great success.

To make Solar Power cheaper for the common people, Govt/NGOs should support the communities or group to install SOLAR PANEL for their needs of electricity so as to reduce burden of Solar Panel installation. As more communities will join and install it, the demand of the Solar panel will increase and respectively the cost will come down, and this could help for future cheap Solar Panels.

hi prateek, you seem to have an "immidiate" kind of a problem of "facing huge power cuts at your residences for a number of days". and one can imagine the pain with which you write. but research, development and building of alternatives may not be able to solve your immidiate problems. no one can deny the need for research and developments of such products, but your needs seem to be immidiate. maybe you should look at other alternatives like pooled in solar panels, invertors, generators etc. none of these might provide a total solution - but a combination alongwith some modifications in the useage styles may help somewhat. hope this helps. my regard
