It’s important to write down the shares you own, save copies of contract notes and routinely check your demat account. If shares are missing, the broker has to be contacted immediately. Always check demat account after a day of high volatility in the markets and at the end of every month. |

To add to the above idea- there can be instances where you buy MFs online, most of the time your only option would be to redeem it online also. See if there is a redemption link for the scheme you are buying.

Many times delays on Indian ISP connections, especially BSNL & MTNL, are not actually slow, only their DNS Servers are overwhelmed/overloaded. This results in a bottleneck in DNS reply and to the user it seems as if the Internet is slow....it is not actually, most of the time. One can use an open Internet DNS server like openDNS or better yet, install your own DNS Server (some are available free of cost or for nominal cost, on the net). You will find amazing change in apparant speed. |

Many Brokers penalize small transactions. ICICIdirect charges almost 2% brokerage when transaction is less that 500 Rs. Such practives should be discouraged by customers. I am churning from ICICIdirect....End of Story ;-) |

This is what happened with me. I bought various lots of Reliance stock through the morning, and had set myself a stop loss of Rs 268.50. The ticker on online portal, Reliance Money, showed the price was Rs 272. Based on this, I bought even more shares. By evening, close to end of trading, when I sought to sell his shares, I saw that the price had fallen sharply to Rs 262.90, and the portal was showing a wrong figure on the ticker. This can happen to anyone. Open NSE and BSE websites (www.nseindia.com, www.bseindia.com) and verify prices before placing order. |

It’s always advisable to make sure that the connection is not slow or interrupted by any other disturbances. Have some sort of back-up to which you can rely before taking any decision based on the information showing up on your laptop or PC.

There is actually a delay between both the above said processes. Now I advise is to approach two or three brokers after assessing their brokerage and checking references with users. Don't restrict yourself to one. Follow up constantly. Speak to regional sales/marketing manager, escalate to head office. |

The contract note always comes handy. Always verify your contract note. Individually calculate your service tax and brokerage. Do not assume the contract note is accurate. |

The time which we are saying now looks similar to dot com bubble. Will 2009 be seen as mirror image of 2001-03? |
Ramalinga Raju has many split bank accounts. Do you really think that govt. was unaware of it? |
Are the announced cut in excise and service tax enough according to the current situation? |
