I think the Companies spend more than they need to cover the costs of financing trade between themselves and their business partners. Costs of inventory handling and the financial costs of borrowing at high rates to cover working capital are high: shipping is cheaper than ever - the surrounding costs are hard to quantify but we know they are too high.

Banks are slow to react to the needs of companies: by connecting business partners and offering financial services based on visibility to the supply chain, they could reduce costs for their customers and make handsome profits for themselves. But they are slow to announce and deploy such services.
