The Effort and Resource to Trivialise

idea posted by Ravindra Sharma Managing Consultant, CHEF-India

Much bigger than these and similar scams is the role of people in the know.

Any such scam is neither happened nor possible single handedly yet those involved or in the know of and those responsible to assist in pushing such serious scams under carpet are much more at fault.

The Bofor's scandal

idea posted by Yash Singh Coresspondent, Star

I think the biggest of them all was the Bofor's scandal, which took the whole world by a surprise, as the men involved were the then Prime minister, Rajiv gandhi and several others were accused of receiving kickbacks from Bofors AB for winning a bid to supply India's 155 mm field Howitzer. The scale of the corruption was far worse than any that India had seen before, and directly led to the defeat of Gandhi's ruling Indian national congress party in 1989 general elections. It has been speculated that the scale of the scandal was to the tune of Rs. 640 million.

The case came to light during Vishwanath Pratap Singh's tenure as defense minister, and was revealed through investigative journalism by Chitra subramanium & N.Ram of the newspapers Indian express & The Hindu respectively.

The name of the middleman associated with the scandal was Ottavio Quattrocchi, an Italian businessman who represented the petrochemicals firm Snamprogetti. Quattrocchi was reportedly close to the family of Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and emerged as a powerful broker in the '80s between big businesses and the Indian government.

Foddar Scam of Lalu Prasad Yadav!

idea posted by M. Prabhakar Rao Author of "Mayhem Of The Miserables!", http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/52075

Foddar Scam of Lalu Prasad Yadav, is no small thing.  Or Maya's Money Collection in the name of Birthday bash or some other occasion.  Or even Jaya's Disproportionate Assets Case.

A Raja - "the spectrum scam"

idea posted by Suresh P BE student, VELLORE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

There was a huge scam last year and this year where the allocation of 2G spectrum & 3G spectrum was marred with corruption and scam, though telecom ministers role was not mentioned in the FIR but only some officials names have been figured.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) searched the offices of the telecom ministry to probe the alleged "criminal conspiracy" between some officials and private companies in giving wireless radio spectrum to telecommunication firms.

also it is said that there are alleged irregularities while allotting spectrum and licences by the telecom ministry to nine private operators in 2007 was the "largest scam in independent India" that cost the government a whopping "Rs.60,000 crore".

This was one such political-business nexus scam which has happened and by means the biggest one, I want other such Political-business scam to be unearthed people...so do share your knowledge on this which will be very helpful for that matter...

Thanks & Regards,
Suresh

Vedanta University fraud to collect 6000 acres

Vedanta University obtained 6000 acres from Orissa Government to create one of the biggest universities in the World. Do you require 6000 acres of mineral rich land to construct an university?
