I think the problem lies with the faulty parts or any mistake done at the time of production. It would better for the company if it can check the car before releasing them into the market. Also, the best thing to do is not look for a quick fix solution. The healing process takes time and there’s no quick plaster |

Strict Quality control on production & on vendor
Yes,I agree totally agree that a thorough quality check is to be done at the each stage of production and a final quality check to be done before release the product into the market. Instead of going in a rat race to release new models the quality is compromised.
The car majors who are dependant on ancialliry industries for different products should also speicify certain standards and they should not merely rely on the quality certification given those companies, instead they should inspect those industries at regular intervals for quality maintenance etc
There's always one more bug. The quality saturates at around 95%-98%. Some room will be left for defect and that is fact.
With most manufacturers outsourcing components/processes to 3rd party vendors, chances of failure increase. This risk can be mitigated with quality checks/audit not only at the manufacturer (assembler, mostly) but also at the vendor end. Severe penalties and termination of contract manufacturing would rein in the vendors.

Nokia took a simple approach two tear ago, by telling their customers that we are very very sorry, here is a new phone for you. And, it worked. |

Perhaps, if the product is being re-branded?
Recalling itslef can be constituted as a Branding exercise.

Many of the failures noted in recalled cars is in a category which pops out after prolonged use of the vehicle. After prolonged use the failure occurs unexpectedly for the customers and leads even to acccidents. Hence when a product / vehicle is developed the prototype and the actual production piece should be test for prolonged use (say 1 year) and the problems arising during the test should be fixed before releasing the vehicle to the production. Also during the perodical maintenance of cars, more care should be taken to find out slight variations in vehicle in order to find out possible problems in future |

i agree with karthik, now days company's are focusing more on market share, edge over competition and be first to get in to specific segment. however in this pursuit of being ahead of others they are simply missing or neglecting some essentials i.e proper product development precess and its life cycle, prolonged testing over a period of time, actual testing condition, quality audits of vendors, and costumer satisfaction reviews. well its just a view ppl are invited to correct me. thanks.

This is all happening just because of competition.Low qualities cars are coming because they want to sell more and more cars every year for becoming no. 1 in chart list. But they are not able to satisfy the customers not even themselves... |

The Big Firms Normally have a practice of Market research before selecting a vendor Brand. Also there is a feasibility check for the Quality of inputs right at the Procurement entry Register stands. Now, if the Vendor is giving a component under some Quality Criteria, there are ways to check them at the procurement stage itself. Also there are some operations that lead to high Value adds in the process of production. Quality Department can decide on the check centers, and keep the Quality Deptt. at strict adherences to reporting Quality at the Check Centres in these processes. Also the big Companies mostly get components made at the OEMs, or Sub Production Units, These places should have a revved-up quality assurance team. Why the backlog happens... is not a tough answer. Backends are the last ones to recieve incentives. Also the Quality Department work is considered Dormant and Invisible... (perhaps, the value they add is difficult to calculate) This leads to a slack in performance. Let's see from their perspectives.. to understand what goes wrong on their end. |

The manufactures are concentrating on how many models are released. The quality of the vehicle mechanisam is kept aside by the manufactures as seen from the recent markets call back of vehicles. |

A hybrid vehicle is a vehicle that uses two or more distinct power sources to move the vehicle. Do you think such cars are answer to all the problems like rice hike in petrolem, air pollution ect .. |
Along with manufacturing a better maintenance is also needed because when there is no maintenance various problems come unexpectedly. But if parts properly maintained they will know what the condition is and how to take care of it and avoid disastrous... |
