he concept of Licensing in India is not new In India now and every international brand catering to India through licensing and will reach to its maximum level in the coming years. Exposure to all international brands through TV, Hollywood movies and Internet, Indian consumers are also very much aware about the international brands. Today, Indian brands are using the licensing practice after the huge success of the strategy in the international market. The inclination for making business through licensing has assisted many companies to post some big alternations of the otherwise 'own brand'. Licensing industry worldwide is estimated at $187 billion.Licensing of brands, designs, characters (from cartoons, movies, etc), celebrity names & photographs, events, etc. is now becoming popular in India where these are used on various products like jewellery (pendants, etc), apparel, lifestyle accessories, toys, gifts, games etc. This has created immense opportunities for Indian brands, manufacturers, retailers, designers, lawyers, financial consultants and licensing agents. Kids Merchandize, Education, Hotel industry are some of the areas which has grown on brand licensing. |
