Your USP must be your business strategy.For example, take TVs,there are identical features almost in all Televisions.Then,why consumers should go for one offered by you. Post sales etiquette,like,Return and replacement policies,free services,auto-monitoring of performance.cash back etc.These must be highlighted through each and every advertisement.

Unique Selling Proposition (USP) as Mr.Bakhsh mentioned is the key differentiator to promote any product! In today's scenario, every one looks for value proposition, if the product suggested offers both quality and value for money, people immediately go for it. The longer the product stays in the market, the greater its brand-equity!

WOM is the cheapest way of publicity,particularly suitable for small scale industrial business.But for mass marketing,WOM is not suitable.Means u cannot do WOM publicity 4 ur Videocon products as simple as that. For WOM-the best way is to focus the target groups available,wherein u can do WOM publicity,which will help u to know the immediate responses of the customers.

All the publicity tools are great including WOM, Networking, referrals,blow up features, the YOU factor etc. But not all are suitable in every case. Therefore there can't be simple YES or NO reply to this content. For example, for high value products and healthcare products, WOM may the best tool, but for a shampoo brand aggressive advertising is required-WOM may not result in required number of buyers...

The main part of publicity is to first identify the USP of the product or service offered by you business.It's after this only when you can communicate to the target or potential customer about the business offering but keeping in mind the "The you factor" i.e. how much value does it create for the customer so that to increase the perceived value which will serve two purpose
a) customer will pay high if the perceived value is high
b)Word of mouth publicity will automatically get increased

Publicity is free exposure without having to spend thousands of dollars on advertising. Publicity has great staying power. When you are written up in a publication, the people who read that eventually pass that on to other people by giving either the article or the entire magazine.
