Thanks,Meena for referral Your USP must be your business strategy.For example, take TVs,there are identical features almost in all Televisions.Then,why consumers should go for one offered by you. Post sales etiquette,like,Return and replacement policies,free services,auto-monitoring of performance.cash back etc.These must be highlighted through each and every advertisement.

Unique Selling Proposition (USP) as Mr.Bakhsh mentioned is the key differentiator to promote any product! In today's scenario, every one looks for value proposition, if the product suggested offers both quality and value for money, people immediately go for it. The longer the product stays in the market, the greater its brand-equity!

Word of mouth is the best way. Now the question arises that why will WOM travel. For this one needs to find out what is that one thing which is best and most appealing feature and then one needs the art of putting it into most appealing words..

Meena though there are various ways but word of mouth is probably the best and effective way to establish a Brand within short span of time.

WOM is the cheapest way of publicity,particularly suitable for small scale industrial business.But for mass marketing,WOM is not suitable.Means u cannot do WOM publicity 4 ur Videocon products as simple as that. For WOM-the best way is to focus the target groups available,wherein u can do WOM publicity,which will help u to know the immediate responses of the customers.

Referrals work. Word of mouth advertising is still the most powerful form of advertising available, and it's getting ever MORE powerful in 2004. The largest companies in this country have cut their advertising budgets over the last 10 years and directed that money towards generating positive PR and good word of mouth (a.k.a. 'buzz') for their products.

All the publicity tools are great including WOM, Networking, referrals,blow up features, the YOU factor etc. But not all are suitable in every case. Therefore there can't be simple YES or NO reply to this content. For example, for high value products and healthcare products, WOM may the best tool, but for a shampoo brand aggressive advertising is required-WOM may not result in required number of buyers...

The main part of publicity is to first identify the USP of the product or service offered by you business.It's after this only when you can communicate to the target or potential customer about the business offering but keeping in mind the "The you factor" i.e. how much value does it create for the customer so that to increase the perceived value which will serve two purpose a) customer will pay high if the perceived value is high b)Word of mouth publicity will automatically get increased

... know their preferances with relation to your product offering and then narrow down to the medium of publicity that would best reach them. This is so because people have different preferences or perceptions of a product. Only when you are able to narrow down on these can you identify the medium that is best suitable to reach them.

I think just one feature article about you in a major publication can bring you a flood of orders – overnight. When you get publicity, you get something that no other kind of marketing can give you – a 'endorsement’. People assume that if you are the one who has been written up in something like USA Today, they figure you must be the best at what you do. It is a silent endorsement. You can easily add reprints and copies of the media to your marketing material so that people can see the story and be impressed. Major TV Shows like Oprah on down have producers that are constantly reading newspapers and magazine to discover people. If you are quoted in one place, people are comfortable quoting you in other places. Publicity is free exposure without having to spend thousands of dollars on advertising. Publicity has great staying power. When you are written up in a publication, the people who read that eventually pass that on to other people by giving either the article or the entire magazine.
