Until and unless the attacks aren't being reported then one can't take action against it. Indians have the mentality of being in a herd of which they know and they always be with Indians and nobody else, and this is creating irk with the local crowd there and the matter of fact that Indians who are smart and get the best out of life wherever they are, Indians are every where and even in colleges they do well and they don't go out that much, may be this has got to do with the way they are brought up but then that should not be the problem, but Australians on the other hand are a bit aggressive and dominating (eg. Look how Australian cricket team behaves when things are not going their way) It is just that sheer frustration among Australians on the whole is causing these attacks on Indians, and Australia is known for racism, these things were not reported before, there was racism even 5 yrs ago also but nothing came out as Indians were scared, now the students don't get bog down so easily and want to make things change there, so every attacks are being reported and Australia should take necessary actions regarding these if each and every culprits are punished then these attacks will die down. |

Indians were prone to racist attacks, which we have witnessed during Indian cricket team's tour to Australia. We had also witnessed how our Captain, Anil Kumble, brought the issue to the fore without offending anyone. The entire world stood behind us and sorted out the case.
Its time for the Government of India to raise these issues in the United Nations and also take it up with the United Nations Commissioner for Human Rights. However, the Government is wanting our people to maintain composure and resilient. We have, of course, very strong relationship with Australia, and Australia is wooing Indians to take up higher education in their country. Is it not their bound and duty to protect us from all these vagaries.
Instead of doing lipservice, Government of India should wake up and do something concrete now, otherwise, these sporadic incidents will turn out to be a disastrous end for both the countries.
I think these racist attacks will have a long term effects on visitors to Autralia, specifically the Asians.
Lets hope the OZ Government wakes up early and takes some firm steps to curb racism.

We have so much Racisim in India even today,I feel we are not competent to talk about racism outside india In india racism is aganist Biharis ,Madrasis,or Up people, all in Mumbai and The same like tamilians in KArnataka,or kerala, and so on in each state. It is state defined as well as language defined. We support this type of racism here in one way or other to suit our interests and in the same tongue call racism when it happens to Indians elsewhere. Are we Perfect here? Why cant we first correct ourselves and then cry hoarse in other countries ? Why as citizens with all rights here in India get to be at the receiving end of racism here in India ,then what moral ground do we have to cry about such racism in other counrties where we dont have the Rights? We talk about lofty Indian culture when we have thrown it to the winds and are behind anything western and talk about racism when we ourselves throw it out of the window when it suits us Though racism in any part of the world is to be denounced ,my point is to practice before preaching |

The attacks well-orchestrated in the media aren't exactly yet understood. None knows why the attacks are taking place. Unless one gets to the root of the problem there wouldn't be a solution to it. We can treat the problem topically but it'd only bounce back with more verve.
Many of the ideas expressed here to tackle the problem sound very 'knee-jerk' and 'routine' to me. Especially like, "it's time for the Government to act" or "live in an exclusive zone". By living in an exclusive zone, we'd ghetto ourselves and turn ourselves into 'slummers' or whatever else.
And, talking about racism, Indians are the worst race-offenders and color conscious people in the world. Aussies pale in comparison. So let's stop talking about racist attacks until we stop them in India first..
In addition to we trying to resolve problems in our own country where we humiliate our own countrymen, it is high time we react or do something where we can force the Australian government and/or authorities to take some severe actions against their people who are doing all these things. Australia is pretty well civilized country and such acts from such modern and civilized country people is really very disappointing. It has created such a bad impression about Australia and the Australians.
This forces us to think that Australian Government is not capable of controlling their own people. Australia is earning is millions from us as we go there and pay a huge sum to study and live. Also our government should take some stern steps to and initiatives to have this situation resolved.

Our Govt has to stand up and take the responsibility of these attacks on our kin!! This has to stop. The OZ govt needs a shot in the arm and that can be done DIPLOMATICALLY via the govt officials!! I say LAUNCH a counter attack on Australians living here!! Will the OZ govt not rise tp some of their own countrymen being beaten in India?? I think its our Govt that needs to take up the issue and not the other way round!! Also, this is not the time to first look into OUR OWN and then do the needful OUTSIDE!! This is the CALL FOR ACTION TIME!! WAKE UP INDIAN GOVERNEMENT!!!! |

Hello guys, This is solely my opinion and dont intend to contradict or convince anyone anything here. Firstly, as claimed in developed coutries ( by this i understand as people are more civilized , rational and thought driven, through self learning or by nurturing). When such things happen the very definition of developed countries only hangs on the word as rich countries (comparitively). These attacks are put into big scenarios by media which is a good thing, but with the recession it got worse, so can we say it as frustation , ok you might , what has these young kids around 18 to 20 to do with recession, they dont even work, but truely they see the parents, freinds families and some other who lost a job , not necessarily we replaced them. But the feeling that Indian and Asians strip them off their jobs for lesser salaries in which they consider we live cheaply , where as they feel its the necessity for them to have so much money. These things a sort of trigger these mental agonies , however illogical they may seem. I have partly and sometimes have discussed this with some of my very close freinds you are definitely Germans , French and UK. They accept such attacks are not necessary and its a sort of insult for them as it reflects a bad image on behaviour of their country men. What they still say is that , there are people who are against governments and parties which support anti immigration laws and they have really good ammunition of words with them and makes these people a victim and also the fellow citizens a sort of violent mob. More so in my observation , when the same mob attack in Berlin happened, yes the indian were beaten and indian pizza and curry corner was also thrashed by germans shouting more or less the same meaning slogans. Well, but when the other side of the story came out and local berlin Indians who knew the fact was revealed, what peaceful agitation against government can be raised? the other side of the story was this , a girl was dancing alone when her boyfreind went to get some drinks, and 5 of these indian guys rounded her up and starting giving a sort of dancy body collisions to her and as this continued second time , a small trigger was enough to kick the drunken guys and so it went on..true or false no one knows but when our guys in Berlin say this , should be we hear or not? should be believe or not? I dont understand , Why are chinese, koreans, japanese spared all the time , be it Germany, UK, USA, Australia ? Do you think they are in equal numbers approximately as ours? I feel they command more respect than us , but we only keep demanding respect. Its a real pity to see how our own Indian lawyers treat the immigration filers .. One has to face the reality here and know why things are happening, its easy for people in India to call a foul, but its really difficult for people who are hear to Explain. This is my 8 yrs experience in Germany. But i could not call Foul against more than 2 incidents in my 8yrs life here, one was a drunkard who shouted foreigners out! in German. One was in a train who got down the train and made funny actions towards a group of Indian students( we were students at that time) , i believe the mistake was also on our part , as these people dont like laughing out loud in trains and that too speaking continiously for more than a hour and laughing and laughing and some things were clear there were imitations about German colleagues and Teaching assistants too.. so mistake was on both sides , ofcourse unknowingly we triggered it .. but we learnt it , yes its their country and we have to see that we dont complain about their habits and culture. In my belief , if one knows why some one is here and acts responsibly atleast half of the things which are taking place will reduce. Other half what happens without triggering can then be named accordingly, as racist.. |

Mr. Ajay is right. Its high time for us to get a government recognition in those countries. One more point which is coming in my mind (Though not so much practical) is, we all should learn self defence so that we remain prepared for any unwanted accident....

We can avoid or rather fight against racial attacks by living in areas, where asians are in majority. We can fight against the racists legally and collectively, by being Inter connected through internet and intranet and even without looking for support from Indian Government. Organize peace rallies there, to ensure good sense prevail in pacifists among denizens of the host country. |

Instead of without waiting for the Indian and Australian governments to do something, Indians in Australia should create their own mechanism to curb these racial attacks. They should group together more, create pressure groups for getting police intervention, and lend a hand to each other whenever any of them faces a problem. They will have to rely on themselves mostly as we resident Indians are unlikely to be able to help them much from hundreds of km away |

I would like to support Mr. Manjunath here. Bharat Ganarajya.. that is what it should be... |
@ Abhishekh He has clearly explained the differnce between an enterpuener and an owner.. But the problem of the debate is that we fall in neither as we are not into business.. But if he asks that what you wanna be.. I would love to be an enterpuener..... |
Believers believe and non-believers don't . No one can tell what will happen tomorrow but we want to get assurity which makes us feel more secure and so we want to believe in it. All the astrologers are taking advantage of this mentality. |
