I think, when times is good and favors the companies, the companies continue to spend where they had the previous year, As clients analyze where they will be putting their advertising money during recession, they may reduce the budget , with budgets being reduced they will be forced to analyze more carefully
what media they believe will give them the best R.O.I.

In this recession period, Clients are getting nervous & shaky about the scenario. Its not tht money is not there but are not confident to put into advtg till recession dies. The onus lies on the advertising agencies to bring about new ways & possibilities to generate excitement amongst them. Print media is a volatile medium but is the most popular of all. Time to wait & counter attack recession.

They advertise for 'NEW ARRIVALS', they advertise for 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY', they advertise for 'PASSED EXAMS', they advertise for 'APPOINTMENTS', they advertise for 'SEEKS APPOINTMENT', they advertise for 'PROMOTION', they advertise for 'MATRIMONIAL', they advertise for 'MARRIAGE ANNIVERSARY' even they advertise for 'OBITUARY'. Every event of human life brings revenue to advertising industry and there is no dearth of human and life's in India. Hence, question do not arise for 'Recession' in ad-industry. |

I feel that with more and more people cutting budget on advertisement, the advertisement industry may increase the cost of lot (time alloted for an advertisment) to maintain with the cost of operation and all.

During recession, all companies will try to cut cost and many companies 1st step towards cost cutting is by reducing the budget, which may lead to no advertisement for a short period. Which will result in fewer number of clients opting for advertisement. This is only for short term.
