Number of signals can be rduced by making By-roads, Fly-overs,Sub-ways, one-way roads because we witness the long ques at the Traffic-island, Cross-Road Signals where the signals are manually operated in order to reduce the traffic but it may lead to human error

Reducing signal needs lot of planning & investment. However there may be no space for constructing new by roads etc. further court stay & hindrance like temple/ mazar on roads can also add the problem.

This will do a lot of good. Th traffic will be divided and hence the time taken will be less. The signals eat away lot of time and make a 10 min travel a 30 minute one!!

We have seen people are parking cars, bikes, scooters and other vehicles at the road side. This shoul be strictly prohibited especially in Daytime. If we find can call traffic police to take the immediate action. |

Phone/ Mobile nos. of traffic regulatory authority to be displayed so that one can help in traffic by informing them.

It is observed that one person that is driver alone is travelling in 4-Seater or 8-Seater vehicles.
Just one seat is occupied but other 3 to 7 seats are empty. So Car Pooling will have co-travellers that will occupy these seats that will reduce fuel consumption as well as maintain the environment.
Even Bike pooling also helps as we see only single Bike Riders are travelling leaving empty seats behind.
These Car pooling and Bike Pooling should at least be done in Peak Traffic Hours

In these days of being environment friendly, this is the best idea to save pollution and save fuel.

In Industrial cities, it is quite obvious that Heavy Materials (like Construction and mechanical materials and others) transfer take place.
But it can be done other at than peak hours
Garbage collector Van is seen in morning hours when people are making it to offices/Businesses/Schools/Colleges etc.
This can definiely be avoided.

I agreed with your points.

The two main parties that affect the traffic are:
1. The Public & 2. The Traffic Police.
Barring a few people, most of the public, especially the auto-rickshaw drivers and lorry drivers are insensitive to the fellow passengers and to the smooth flow of traffic. They act in a selfish manner, jump the signals, park at the wrong places and think of only their convenience, thereby neglecting the overall impact that they cause. In the process, they end up making the whole situation messy.
Coming to the traffic police, there are some real issues to deal with.
1. Acute Shortage of policemen to man all the important areas.
2. Lack of Proper Training in managing the traffic and in using the latest techniques to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
To create awareness among the public, a huge campaign such as the Pulse Polio campaign needs to be organised.
Auto-rickshaw drivers and lorry drivers may be asked to attend a 1-day Traffic Sensitisation Programme to sensitise them about the issue.
Keen attention is to be given to the training needs of traffic police and sufficient number of policemen are to be recruited.

Like this we can enumerate for a long list. Consciously, a good roads with all facility & signs enabling driving smooth. Clear field of drive is always made available. A good drivers training is to be organised at all levels to discipline them. |

Dislocation of offices from central place of city to other place will also reduce the problem.
|
|
This way there will be reduction of traffic at intersections and stoppage at traffic lights will be reduced. Patrolling on bikes by traffic police should be there at peak hours and heavy penalty should be imposed for violating traffic rules such as wrong overtaking, bumping into other vehicles, signal jumping at red or yellow lights, using mobile phones while driving, and blasting of horns during traffic jams.

Offece Hours are the major hits for the Traffic problem in the cites.
So we can divide office hours into Morning Shift and evening shift like Call Centres, BPO/KPO Offices do.
Any new office registration should be permitted only if they are ready to work in Shifts other than General Day Shift.

Traffic can also be regulated in big city by time management. If different offices are opened at different time for e.g. Central Govt. Offices opened at 9.00 am, State Govt. offices at 10.30 am, Court at 11.00 am and shops at 11.30 am then it will help in reducing density of traffic. Similarly Common holiday of Sunday can be shifted to other days for different kind of Jobs.

Most of the problems in metro cities are due to enroachments on the road and the lack of public / private parking. With the mushrooming of the concrete jungle, this problem has become even more endemic with buildings not having parking space for its tenants or overcharging them. Laws will have to be formulated to end this greedy nexus of the builders and municipal authorities. All builders should be forced to provide parking space for at least 1 car for each flat. Additional space required can be charged by the builder. This way parking wouldnt spill onto the roads. Also enroachments like food stalls and hawkers should be cleared to keep the footpaths free for pedestrians to use and thereby the roads would become free. If these two points are strictly adhered to that itself would take care of this problem rather than spend additional money on infrastructure which is absent in the first place.
Also public transport should be increased so that people are encouraged to use less of their private vehicles.
