As per me “The less time a PC is on, the longer it will last.” turning off both the CPU and monitor would be better rather make it hibernate if you're not going to use your PC for more than 2 hours.Turning off an unused computer will not only reduce your energy bills, but it will reduce system-wide energy demand, which will help cut carbon dioxide emission.Even screen savers do not save energy. They can actually result in greater energy use. |

To my understanding, it is the frequent turning on / off which hurts the machine and not prolonged use or remaining on. However, from the energy angle, any powered device when not in use should preferably remain shut.

To turn off the computer, when not in use is a good option to follow, as today's saving is creation for tomorrow.

Turning off does not just save on energy. It also reduces the chance for hackers looking around. Besides, when not in use, what are they achieving by leaving it on? So please do switch off. Better all around.

If the computer is not carrying any website or program that need any time from out sider then it is better to shut down it and save the life of its working parts because they are born for some time as we are.Save elec.bill amount.Avoid magnetic effect in home.
