In a recent news, Shane Warne has said he wants to think twice before taking part in the IPL cricket matches in India. He also adviced the IPL board to set the matches in South Africa and not to take the threats lightly posing the example of the attacks on players in Colombo.

Recently, the increase in the number of terror attacks on India has increased threat not only among Indians but among those who are visiting India as well. The 26/11 and last week's Pune blast has threatened everybody who is anyway related to India. On the top of that, the warning from Al-qaeda to the international community not to send their players in India to take part in IPL matches and Commonwealth games has increased much more fear among the players.

So, In this regard, what steps should India take to increase the security during IPL and commonwealth games?

Increased security for each and everything related to these games

idea posted by Himanshu Pathak Sr/Principal Coresspondent, Coresspondent

Each and every persons related to IPL and commonwealth games should get more and more eagled eye commandos as security guards. Their hotels, the streets they are passing through and the places they will visit through everything should be sealed at least seven days before they land in India. All the officers associated with them or going near them should be high ranked officers only. Every Individual in the stadium should be thoroughly checked. Any suspect should be arrested immediately. Eagle eyed commandos should be standing behind every 4 individual in the stadium.

hi Himanshu,

ur suggestions are good provided if things are alike.today all most all leading countries are experiencing the threat of terrorist activity which do not have any readymade solutions.recent blast in Pune will add essence to my statement.eventhoug our IB is doing good job results will depend on time of actions.but still we have to face this menace bravely and all countries should give moral support to INDIA which will have adverse impact on fithy mentalities of terrorists.

The topic put forth by you is excellent.

I don’t think that increasing the number of security men will solve the problem permanently. This will only add to our expenditure. The blast in Pune can be justified as terrorists want to stop foreign players to come to India and they also want India to not go ahead with the talks with Pakistan. The government has taken right decision to go on with talks but with little different agenda than before.

If the sports event is moved out of India, it might look like we are accepting that India is not a safe place. But at the same time we need to run the show successfully. This is a big challenge.

For any player to perform, he/she needs to concentrate on the game more than the terrorist attacks. For this neutral venues can be considered but again the game is going out of India.

If we consider commonwealth games, the event is being conducted in one campus. So it is relatively easy to attend the security. But for an event like IPL where the matches will take place all over India, it is going to be a huge challenge.

Thus, at the moment increase in security is the only option. But for future, conducting events at one location, more safe venues by design and construction, less corruption and reduced terrorism are some of the solutions to this.

Add your argument:

Curb the media for giving too much hype to terrorists.....

Terrorist attacks are happening everywhere in the world so why are we just pointing on india whether it is safe or not......The question is which country is safe from terrorists ? noone... So better is to remove this terror panic from people which is the best way to counter attack these terrorist and above all Security is much.... a dedicated security......
