The challenge for IT managers is prioritization, determining which areas of de business must stay operational and which can afford 2 be down. V know tat de company will lose money if revenue generating areas can't function, but how much money? V know tat without access 2 tools and resources, marketing and human resources r less productive, but how much less productive? Knowing which areas of de business need to get up and running 1st after a system goes down can mean de difference b/w survival n extinction. Tat's where a business impact analysis (BIA) comes in. Like a survival guide for ur business, it lays out which areas r most critical???., What steps we have follow to perform a business impact analysis... any ideas plz welcome...

idea posted by Arijay Chaudhry CEO, Strategic Intelligence Services

The best bet for performaning Business Impact Analysis is on the IDASM platform. It is the only technology that integrates most processes such as data warehousing, non-nueric data analysis, business reports, data mining, statistical mining besides many others. It has the largest integrate portfolio comprising of over 260 decision making services. Many of the technologies are not available in India.

Document the Gross Revenue and Net Profit

I could say document the gross revenue and net profit your organization generates per year. This data sets the upper bound for business losses related to business operations. It will not, however, set the limits for reputation, regulatory or legal losses that can rise yearly revenue.

Business Systems

I think one have define the critical business systems that organization operates. This data can be entered and tracked in a spreadsheet. In many cases the revenue data can be linked to critical systems. This is especially true in e-commerce-driven companies.
