During this downturn hotels can go for outsourced services. Outsourcing can definitely save hotels money. Outsourcing housekeeping services, security services and food and beverage services can be done to save a lot of money. |

I think since the occupancy level is declining, the hotel can use this as opportunity to renovate their hotel by completely shutting down the empty rooms or floors. And the empty parking lot can be repaved. This is the time the hotel can hire contractors fairly cheaply. |

Let me strat . I think, the hoteliers should elimiate those services which are no longer required by the guest during the downturn. The evaluation of the operations should be an ongoing function to find out the guest expecatations and the service which no longer is prefer by the guest, |

Revisit the 80/20 rule which says 80% of your business comes from 20% of your customers. So try to exceed your customers expectation. Will this exceeding customers expectation during the downturn will be beneficial ?? YES , it will . When the opportunity comes you will be as you were in touch with your customers and exceeding their expectation. |
