As patent law is not good in India, atleast the Patent examiner offices in the country should be armed with large research databases to protect the rights of Individual inventors, just to protect their new technologies, and there is also process of evergreening where major pharmaceutical companies by making minor changes in the present product apply for patents and steal someone's hardwork, though this is giving Indian's a relief by getting cheaper medicines as MNC's which has most patents would have charged a high price for a medicine. But then with no proper data in our databases regarding research there will be many times that technologies developed will clash with others which has already been developed, just to make sure that students can go for new innovation and also get it patented such that it gets its due recognition we need stronger patenting system. |

Strenghten the patenting system or the governing body which regulates and controls it in the first place. Lastly its high time we gave our engineering students/Indian brain their due credit cause more often than not we stand to lose them to say the least.
Strong patenting system is must in our country. Every time we wake after losing of patent right & then fight for that. It is not good for us.
Two-way approach could work. On the one hand, the college authorities need to be sensitized to the potential of patenting for potential inventions by students and faculty. On the other, patenting authorities should be de-bureaucratized to become proactive and become more involved in the scientific activities of technical institutions. For example, rather than the patenting authorities sitting in their formidable ivory towers they should go out to seek patents by organizing road shows and exhibitions and seminars in colleges and schools.

I believe that if there is a dedicated Student Innovations Governing body at each of these premier / Deemed Institutions, there are more chances of the innovations coming to light. These bodies would be specifically chosen from Alumni of the students that have passed out from these institutions. They would understand the role that they have to play in terms of making visible and to organise a B2B and public display of these innovations. Its a very simple idea. More visibility would mean more exposure. In turn there would be more people aware and asking the most crucial questions, which would probably open up the governments eyes to the talent that these students posses!! The innovations need to be visible in public eye, period!! Interesting ideation here :) |

As Students make innovations while studying in the college. The college itself should take initiative that it is promoted & patented.Even if the project is company sponsored professors who are guides of students for that particulsr project should act as college as well as student representative.Professors themselves must with help of students & college authorities try to file for patent without waiting for companies.Colleges should try to promote the project by sending it to various competitions maybe national or international as it will help them publicise not just the projec but also their institute . So for proper promotion & recognition of student innovation it required by students ,professors & college authorities(HOD ,principal)to work hand in hand. |

colleges should first of all take steps.they should conduct grand seminar and interested and important people should be invited.these type of steps are not taken by the colleges of india.
|
|
Innovation should be displayed so that the innovation can be captured in the organisation. Its only after through examination of the innovation idea, companies can do feasiblity to accept the innovation for mass production or not. |

appreciation for the sucess & dare to innovate should be practicesd, so that more people participate.

yes today it is very common in colleges, they are giving pressure on assignments.Intelligence and success is measured in ur marks achieved in theory paper,so every one is joined in competitive enviroment, noone is thinking of innovations and infact noone can think of innovation,we can stop it now encouraging and admiring the new ideas of student's innovation, atleast let them think of innovations and admire them and should give some time to be innovative, then ofcourse all student will take innovation seriously |

Good one kirthi, but assignments are important. They should simply stop pressuring students and motivate them. Assignments are one source for innovation. When you do some interesting assignments it may lead you to some innovative thinking.
Cheers !!!!!

Companies should encourage the students by appreciating their new and innovative ideas by sponsoring their projects. |

Innovations are never taken seriously anywhere. Thats how they are innovations. The only way innovations can be rewarded is by getting to its application. You are talking about students, even the professors and scientists face the same fate on innovations. The problem is no one wants to work on its application sometimes even the innovator himself. I remember about reading an article about a person from eastern India who developed his very own cars. You know created cars for himself. State Govt. RTO do not allow him to use it on roads. What a pity? so he drives them on off roads, nearby areas, for his own fun. If you talk money, India is still a developing nation. We still don't have money to put on amateur innovations. Student innovators should learn to self help or rather the institutions where they study. Work on enterprising skills to get the innovation put to well documented working models which are sell-able. Label it as a work from the institute, reproduce working models and sell/transfer it to different companies to get real testimony. Then get a patent when the innovation goes to real production. Innovators need to work on its life cycle or else they will find it working and patent from foreign sources. We are still discovering how to use democracy and self help but new India and gen next won't ask such questions. They will do it. |

A seperate committee should be established in order to encourage student's ideas and innovation. The committee can be a government body also. For every district , such committee can be established and regular meetings also encourage the students a lot...... |

Create strong awareness by showcasing these innovations and the web is one such medium which you can use to do so. Create blogs, websites, send emails to all the relevant people who would be interested in looking at or promoting these innovations. Khud kaa baja nahin bajaoge toh kaun sunega yaa dekhegaa or in Gujarati they say Boley tena bor vehenchay (one who advertises/speaks about it sells more) |

Yes, This is the time That all the college students should come out and form a group contains leading members from different branches. This group should be such that which can guide them to get innovative ideas and helping them to get it done in right way which can help to the country as well as to there professional growth and getting patent to what they have done. This group should force the management of the institutions to get the information from the industries what actually they are looking from the coming out graduates and what are the present technologies available in the market relating to every field and them making decisions about the project to be innovative type or up-gradation of the present technology. |
