We do execute lot many activities day in and day out, whether it is executing a project or playing a game etc. All these could be successful in case we fully understand and implement TTCO. To my knowledge, this is not defined anywhere in the professional books or journals etc., I have just pondered myself this term and thought of sharing with you all. If anyone of you has already got any other idea earlier, I would appreciate, if you can share with me. Now, let me brief you on my thoughts on TTCO. TTCO stands for Timeliness, Technique, Concentration and Observation. Timeliness - Whatever the activity / game / project, we do, we should ensure that it is performed / completed at the right moment. Delays would definitely take the task to a toss. For example: In a cricket match, when a ball is bowled and the batsmen mistimed, he would be bowled or caught. In case of a project, we should stick to the committed timelines which ensures the customer satisfaction and repeated orders. Hence we should ensure that the timeliness is very important for the success of any activity / project. Technique - Once we are sure that we are executing the activity on time, we should apply the right Technique to ensure that the task is done with a good quality. Taking the same earlier example, if the batsman, even though timed it, if he does not apply the right Technique, he cannot score runs. Even in a project, we should ensure that we apply the correct Technique (approach / technology / process etc.) to make it a success. Concentration - Yes. We have the timeliness and technique but if we do not concentrate on what we are doing on a regular basis, we won’t be able to deliver the goods as expected. Considering the earlier example, the batsman needs to concentrate on the ball to hit it, right from the time, the bowler starts the run-up. This helps in judging the ball correctly. In a project, we should concentrate on every aspect right from the start till the closure to achieve the success. Observation - Last but not the least is the observation. We should keep observing the progress and keep track on the happenings and keep learning from the failures of the current and the earlier projects, to ensure that we improve on every aspect of executing the task / project / game. Looking at the same earlier example, the batsman can improve himself by observing his own mistakes and the methods how the other batsmen are playing. I would think the concept of TTCO would help in achieving a success in whatever we are trying to do. Please let me know your views and suggestions to improve on this.

Mr. Venkata Narayanan,
I have thought that the cost factor will be one of the techniques applied while executing the activities based on TTCO. Hence COST CONTROL will be one of techniques applied to ensure that the activity is not over spilling the budgets.
Please let me know your views.

Murthy.
TICO IS AN INDIGENOUS CONCEPT ,( KINDLY UPDATE ME)
SOUNDS/READS BETTER THAN IT'S JAPANESE COUNTERPARTS LIKE JIT , KAIZEN ETC
thanks to Mr murthy .. to highlight the word TTCO... well i feel its for both ..ie: personality and professional development which will ultimately link to attain the goals..may be organizational or personnel..

I think it is prioritization and then planning and then follow Nike's slogan - Just do it. Prioritization is called - Activity sequencing, Planning is resource allocation and scheduling and then doing is exection. Rest leave it to God. (What I meant is do not Rest) !!!!!!!! |

Hi KVVSN,
Thanks for the clarification. I mistook it as yo are suggesting alternative for PM. On the second thought, yes it sounds pragmatic to use TCCO even while sequencing and planning.
Thanks again
Mr Raghu Kastury,
TTCO can be applied as high as at a project level or even as low as at a simple task level. You can apply TTCO individually even for prioritization, planning, resource allocation and scheduling.
