Run all your internal conversation in the language that you want to learn, also read, good novels and write, listen to radio news, verbal drama program (AIR), as this increases you’re listening, visualization and grip of the language. Speak in that language, with people who are from that region. |

To have proficiency in any language it is essential to understand its grammar. Hindi is easier to write because its a phonetic language but grammatical rules have to be observed to spell correctly as the alphabet contains similar letters which have the same vocal accent. The TV news channels except AIR & Doordarshan express many words wrong in Hindi. Frequent mistakes are:- क्या कुछ for क्या-क्या, ये for यह। Also some people's accent is not clear. They speak with an additional अ as a prefix before some words such as अस्नान or अस्मरण by habit but the addition of this prefix means the opposite.

Is your Mother Tongue HINDI? If yes, what is the PROBLEM? ...Or, are Youmore comfortable in any Indian Language??..OR Are you sure YOU ARE BETTER IN ENGLISH??? If HINDI is not your mother tongue, then try to LEARN it systematically without neglecting GRAMMAR. Think of improving. Go on communicating in writing...Then, go for speaking in natural and comfortable manner......But, do not make a mess like SPOKEN ENGLISH as it is done in INDIA now a days. But,still, I fail to make a guess "HOW THIs QUESTION L ANDED IN THE COMMUNITY OF H R PROFESSIONALS???" |

If a topic is interesting and general in nature, I find, people participate irrespective of the professional community he/she belongs to.How many participants above belong to the profession of the forum ? Next, what is the purpose of learning HINDI? Is it only for verbal communication in Hindi? Then the fastest way is to remain in a locality where everybody speaks in Hindi, observing with interest how others are speaking. You shall learn even the dialects which change even in every 200 kilometres. You need not even open any book on the subject. If the purpose is to communicate in writing, then the person has to be thorough, learn grammar, and keep dictionary for perfection. I noticed, Hindi movies have more contribution in propagation than crores of rupees government spent in teaching through Ministry of Home affairs. Thanks, - Dipak Bhattacharya.

Learning any language happens when you are compelled to such thing when others don't understanding your language or English, for that matter. The problem in Hindi is the vast difference in "colloquial" Hindi and Hindi as a literature! The dialect spoken in Delhi and Mumbai are totally different in style and accent. As Mr. Joydeep suggested, listen in Radio and TV news and verbal drama programme (AIR) and even FM radio! Converse in the language without shy! Learn the names of vegetables, fruits, metrics and start conversing with the vendors to begin with. You closely observe the conversations of young children! Gradually, you will see gaining momentum!

learning a new language is very easy for kids, and the ease with which they learn, they transfer their learning to anyone with extreme comfort and in a very rudimentary style.i have my own experience with my kids teaching me dutch. This technique can help anyone to learn the basic converstaion from Kids. But to understand gramatically, you need to refer books for beginners.Once that is done you are ready for grabbing communication styles and higher levels of communication through television Hindi news channels primarily like AAJ TAK etc.Apart from this, stop using any other language you otherwise were using to communicate till date, and just stick to Hindi(even if you are not adept at it)till the time you get comfort zone in the national language.
