Many reports published by Nanoforum describes the impact that nanotechnology is having in the construction industry. It includes an analysis of applications in concrete; steel; wood; glass; coatings; fire protection and detection; and sustainability and the environment. The construction industry is one area where several "here and now" nanotechnology applications, such as specialized coatings and self-cleaning glass, have emerged from nanotechnology development, What are the great advantages from the use of nanotechnology in construction and benefits promises to construction, Share your Experience.....

Add-ons

idea posted by Srinath Srinivasan Construction-Heavy, DLF
I think in construction nanotechnology today helping companies to offer add-ons to product surfaces, such as stain resistance, color durability, self-cleaning properties, and scratch resistance. Nanotechnology in construction is also being used to enhance thermal performance. Thermal products like aerogels (lightweight solids made from silica and carbon) are benefiting from nanotechnology.

sir as i saw in seminar japanesee going to build a building of  Height nearly  5000mts by using this nanotechnology were we can reduce steel cost aronud 1/5th of cost

Benefits

I could say that nanomaterial producers promise great advantages from the use of nanotechnology in construction. Nanotechnology promises to benefit construction by Producing window glasses that require less maintenance, Creating floors that are scratch proof, Strengthening structural material, Manufacturing house paint that will last long and Producing building materials that are corrosion and UV resistant

What if nanotechnology can be used in major construction as in Reinforcement and concrete.

Do we have structures based on nanotech

Monitoring of Civil Works

idea posted by Venkatesh M Warehouse Manager, Larsen and Toubro
With use of “nano-dust” or “speckled computing” (nano-sized detection systems) is an exciting prospect both for the monitoring of civil works – in which levels of strain or other information can be determined on a surface wide basis – as well as in the field of building environmental and lighting detection and control. The concept of building wide monitoring of heat, light and air quality opens up the prospect of much more efficient allocation of resources.
