Be selective.........in everything you do........i.e..........read one newspaper instead of going through many.....watch few channels and selected programmes on TV........watch selected movies in theatres.....etc.......etc............One Idea is working for me.....I anticipate and plan early for the requirements of next two three months..........this helps me to avoid going places for one thing....whenever I am close to the place I take that opportunity to finish that thing.......

Time is very important for life as well as for performing a job/assignment. The time which has lost will never come again.Hence there is a say, work while you work and play while you play. Selecting the priority of important jobs to be executed and proper planning on how, when,  where, and why to accomplish are very indispensable in time mangement.

It is a very good debate as every body affected in time management. I some times wonder about time, its source and end, its history. We understand every thing through space and time and manage as per own perceptions of the same. As one can do one work at one time, one of the ideas to get maximum out of time is to multiply the same by sharing your works with others related with you. If you manage to get your works done through others, you can convert same second to hundred and thousands of seconds for you. I support all other ideas mentioned here.

Discipline and Devotion is required for Time Management this is TRUE, cause without TM you can not keep the one step out of your home, example you used to go office daily on the same time so for reaching at office you have to manage the things accordingly your daily routine work. This is just an example in same shape you can manage the time for your future growth also. Just we have to follow the rule of discipline and devotion in our life.

I attach importance to orderly management of tasks. I do not believe in spending much time in minute prioritizing and using that as an excuse to jump preferences. I concentrate in disposing of the tasks one by one in the same order as they present themselves, of course, with the exception of emergencies. My habit of dealing with the problems in a business-minded manner and my aversion to muddled thinking and my firm belief in God's dispensation, help me in bringing the problems to their logical end. And, by God's Grace I always have just adequate time at my disposal; it is neither in excess nor lacking.

This sounds like laziness or lack of planning, but it is actually extrodinarily efficient and helps one improve the quality of one's own work.  In order to increase efficiency, a computer possesses a 'cache', which is based on the simple idea that you are likelier to need to access data that you have most recently access.  I therefore perform my tasks such as answering my e-mail in *reverse* order of when they come in, the most recent ones first, completing it 100% before moving on to the next one.  Does this mean that some tasks fall to the bottom of the queue and are left undone?  Of course it does!  But the longer they go without being followed up on, the less important they were.  This scheme automatically prioritizes for complexity and priority and avoids poor quality work resulting from leaving a task partly done to perform another higher prioirty task.  Better to build 1 battleship and leave 2 unstarted than to build 1/3 of 3 battleships :-)

Create a To do list and prioritize the work you have. Prioritizing will help in getting first focus and listing down somewhere, where you can access it anytime, will help you to realise where to focus on or what you have missed.

Also, waking up early will help you with the time to relax and do some yog, so that you remain focus althru the day! Cheers!

I totally agree with  you Satwinder.. To Do List is the best way to manage our tasks and time effectively. We have lot of tools available now to schedule our tasks in this way.

1. Important and Urgent

2. Important but not urgent

3. Urgent but not important

4. Not Urgent Not Important

This should typically sort out our life as far as Time and Task management is concerned.

The Matrix is definitely a nice instrument for Time Management.

To use it efficiently the strategy of the time management  as below is essential.

The first quadrant is Crisis quadrant. The one who spend more on this will always be doing fire fighting. Spend 15 % of the time on it. The Urgent and Important tasks are to be given this share of the time.

Second one is Value quadrant. Training and preparation for the future goals is the main and important for this quadrant. Spend 75% of the time on this. Even though Training is not an immediate requirement it is an important requirement. It reduces the quantum of urgent and important tasks of the first quadrant since the efficiency of the individual is increased.

Third one is the quadrant of Misconception. Even though we are averse to the tasks Urgent but not important types we have to spend not less than 10% of our time. We are compelled to spend time on these types of tasks even though these are not contributing to the overall output. If neglected, the tasks of this quadrant may create crises.

Fourth quadrant is time waster. One should avoid time spending on these types of tasks. These tasks are for individual pleasure like browsing internet etc…

devide it into a number of sub tasks.

Identify the person in your group suitable to the subtasks and subdeligate it to them.

Folow up well in advance, remind them of their duties, follow up and appreciate in publlic those who finish early.

I am sure you will end up before time.

Please take care that the job is going on as per reuirement.

Note: Your job: split the time into parts and just remind your team before time and supervise periodically to ensure that you really need it.

i think we should plan our our work according to our strength in a day.there is a right time for doing any work. for ex. if you feel that you are more concentrative in morning you can plan to do tough task in that time. this method can save your time.

Time Management has coherent relation with self descipline. Most of the time we argue on being busy and not having time for our hobbies, social activities, family with simple excuse busy with work in office. And the same excuse comes during office work next immediate day. One should know how to descipline himself. This the supplement for time management.

Write down your tasks to be completed on a paper and do it. another method is write your works after u complete each work with the time you spend for it,and compared the actual time that required for that work thus you can measure the free time you wasted in between the work. This will definitely works i am telling this with my experience.
