A recent news in one of the business daily's just showed what runs in a mind of a risk taker and had compared few things between Indians and chinese in that regard.

Entrepreneurs in both countries are bullish. And nearly half of the respondents believe their societies are more welcoming of entrepreneurial activity today than 10 years ago, and only a quarter in India and one-third in China believe the global financial crisis has seriously hampered the prospects for new businesses. While China has a upper hand in terms of entrepreneurial activity as the Government is more than just supporting them in every way. But in India that is not the case and Indian government has failed to recognize this and if aptly supported with their initiatives we can see more entrepreneurs and more people will be creating jobs in India than anywhere else.

So, what are the to do list for Indian Government to promote entrepreneurship?

Vocational Training from Scool Level

idea posted by malladi madhukumar AGM -MKTG, Andhra Cements Ltd

Vocational training should be given to students from school level. Any trade, carpentary, tailoring, publishing,or any trade, Farming, in any  trade, the student is intrested. It makes him enterprising and can orient himself for self employment.

The main reasons  why people lookout for job as they come out from colleges;

1. From LKG to Intermediate students are busy either in Home work or classes or tests or class work.

2. From LKG children are told if you study well u get good job.

3. Either children have time to see, think or feel anything apart from job.

There should be  thorough change in education system so that we con produce more employers rather than job seekers.

Dishaji good posting . It is good that people are debating amd bringing out good ideas.

Start at a school and College level

Here Chinese counterparts score over us hands down, like When asked what other factors inspire one to start businesses, nearly half of Chinese entrepreneurs give answers related to the state’s efforts to promote and manage enterprise. Compared with just 9% in India, 23% of Chinese entrepreneurs say that what they learnt in school or at university prompted their decision. This presumably reflects the government’s strategy of using universities to promote entrepreneurship. Chinese business owners cite pro-business actions by the government or pro-business messages in the media at three times the rate of their Indian peers.

Starting at school level and continuing at the college level with a focus on entrepreneurship is a systems based approach to enable people to become familiar about entrepreneurship. However, this only inculcates an awareness about entrepreneurship.

Incidentally, most successful entrepreneurs are school and college drop outs (a famous example is Bill Gates). Thus, it is not the only way to promote entrepreneurship. However, this focus on entrepreneurship at the school/college level changes the education system to focus on accepting risks, having the courage to fail and thereby become stronger to tackle entrepreneurship issues better.

Another method is to inculcate the spirit of thinking, innovation, creativity and idea generation in the individual. This should be the core aim of the educational system (school/college). (However, the present educational system focuses primarily on clearing the exam successfully, which should not be the only aim of the educational system). This will automatically trigger the spark of entrepreneurship in the individual.

Coupled with persistence, determination, integrity and focus (good moral values which again need to be instilled at the school/college level) along with good infrastructural and other facilities (environment fostered by the government), the role of the entrepreneur will become stronger in society. This will enable entrepreneurship to flourish in the society.....

Yes the early one starts that becomes a practice I think in Indian School & collages the enterprenure skills are not being taught but for the MBA or other colleges who they spcialize this kind of studies.

If there is a subject called enterprenureship then a band of students will join and in future we will be able to boast and our country will catch up with the advance economies of the world.

Today a lot of Indians are runing companies sucessfully globally includind Mr Pandit, Citi Bank, Ms Indira Nooyi, pepsico etc to name a few.

The government should promote small scale industries since these industries play a vital role in the economy of a country and at the same time provides thousands of jobs to the the local people.

Making it simpler for entrepreneurs, especially the young people who embark on a business, would go a long in encouraging them.

Encourage Research activities

Thanks for refer, Disha.

"A researcher may or may not be educated at all." The statement sounds illogical at first yet is truth. The person who dared raise built houses or all those who use Jugaad as alternate technology may never have been to school yet the incline and depth of subject understanding is amazing. The minimum a country can do is make institutions take services of such talent and in return provide them with requisite support systems.

It is DARE to think different that brings the best in research and not the length of degrees collected without passion.

Thinking different, is already on way to entrepreneurship.

Manager's efficiency lies in how best he can manage with the constrains he has.And jugaad simply means that

Create an effective guidance cell

idea posted by KALIYAMOORTHY Oil & Gas Area Coordinator, Undisclosed

Already there are guidance bureau at district level, for example SIDCO etc. But it is not effective. Either they are unable to mobilize the fund or unable to provide the infrastructures like vocational training, workshop, field study analysis(project report), or even the desired marketers for the produce. Certainly, if an appropriate impetus is given on such district level agency, more and more guys will transform their skills to fruitful production.Guidance at rootlevel can not be neglected.

New courses on Entrepreneurship at various levels.

idea posted by AMITAV Manager Operations Planning and Control & Technical), HINDUSTAN EVEREST TOOLS LTD

Necessity is the mother of invention. The course content of any field is liable to changes pertaining to the requirement and need of the hour. Today if we look around we can count several areas where indepth knowledge, research is due. This will have to be imparted to the students for implementation and further study. Entrepreneurship is one such field. From childhood to adolescence we are taught and nurtered for taking up jobs. Nowhere there is a course wherein the necessary details are taught to produce an entrepreneur. It is here, from where we need to start.

1 Identify levels to introduce primary course materials to prepare students for taking up subjects pertaining to entrepreneurship.

2 Prepare primary course material which will act as basics and motivate one to go for entrepreneur courses.

3 Identify fields like Management to introduce courses dealing with producing entrepreneurs. The practical training is essential and the details are to be laid down after indepth study and research.

4 The best Colleges and Universities of the country can motivate their students to produce jobs and not take-up jobs.

It's the need of the hour and a serious involvement of the academicians across the country will help implement the project.

Friendlier approach

In todays business world one shudders to even think of becoming an entreprenuer because of the red tapism in getting the required permits, greasing of the palms of utility providers, getting a loan sanctioned etc. A more business friendly climate would work wonders and people would really look forward to become one.
