The statistics of India’s new growth economy grip the popular imagination. Even children who scavenge trash for a living report confidently and accurately that India is the second-fastest growing economy in the world. Yeah we are, but is there an all round development happening, are people's aspirations fullfilled, will the Rich & poor gap be narrowed.

There are kids who wants to be the next Bill gates or the next space scientist, but are we providing equal opportunity for them to become one. Dreams aside but all they wanted was ‘a job’. And we are falling behing in this by not using our population and coming generation for this, Just imagine if even half of the population has a proper work to do. India will be something else. And this will happen if there is an allround economic development.

So, what is the best approach to economic development so that we can address this??

Develop Rural & Remote

idea posted by Ravindra Sharma Managing Consultant, CHEF-India

Growth story can achieve something worthwhile only if it is inclusive and broad based. Population control, rural livelihood options to arrest migration and provisioning requisites to make this change possible should be on top of agenda. Farmer cooperatives are another area that needs revisit and support.

All round development is required

idea posted by Srinivas suravajhala Asst. Manager.

India's development is confined to certain urban areas and certain class of people.    The so called development has not reached the rural areas as yet. With 3% of population engaged on agricultural activities could able to produce the surplus of agricultural produce in USA with the continued support from the Govt.  The practice in India is just reverse. This sector is totally being ignored.  An all round development is required.

When it comes to fulfilling aspirations all around, overall development is the key. Such a development sets up the infrastructure to realize just about most of the aspirations.

I agree that all round development is required. Currently the growth is mainly coming from Service and Industrial sector.

OF COURSE WE ARE GROWING BUT OUR GROWTH IS LOPSIDED.THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HAVES AND HAVE NOTS IS BECOMING WIDER AND WIDER.IN THE LONG RUN A BALANCED GROWTH ONLY WILL HELP US REACH WHERE WANT TO .

Grow GDP rapidly

idea posted by Sudeep Tarafdar Senior Consultant, IBM

I know there are many things before GDP which needs a mention, but GDP today matters than ever people, this is what will make you a serious contender, if the GDP is good then we can see markets opening up more and with that aspiration for wealth can be created then there will be opportunities for people to earn a living.

Also India has the second fastest growing economy in the world, after China. The ‘unbinding’ of the Indian economy has enabled many Indians to grow very wealthy. India now has the second largest number of dollar billionaires per trillion dollars of GDP, after Russia. However, the Indian economy is not yet providing enough opportunities for young people in all parts of the country to earn a decent living.

I agree with you Sudip on allmost all points but like to add under the UID the government will know all the details and will probably take necessery steps for proper earning all across the country right from ragpickers to MD.

Yes there is a basis available like BPL and APL the reservations and all other benifits should be on the basis of APL &BPL not on the basis of caste. Incase we are in a position to come out of caste system the country will grow by the real meaning of growth since as of now we are making mor billioners and more BPL families.

Give up reactive regulations for proactive planning of culture and processes

idea posted by Mathew Cherian Research Associate/Analyst, Western Michigan University

The governments of past to now, work as if events happening is spontaneous and causes are suppresed by regulation on an active basis like reaction to curb misbehavior of citizen, like issuence of PAN cards etc;.
What they should understand is that these misbehaviors are caused by lack of planned building of economy and culutre, which is the only way to suppress misbehavior not misle length regulations and taxes that nobody understand what it is in the first place. For every misdeed there is a regulation and the misdeeds are not coming down any time in the near future. People adapt to lack of effeicient processes by creating there own home grown variety of misdeed and govt. blindly believe that it is the citizens fault rather their inability to create the economic and social culture to be more efficient.

Education

idea posted by Rupesh Ranjan Analyst, Progressive Digital Media Group

Although, India is known to have good and efficient brains. It needs to be true evenly, across India. It is possible only through proper education to every children, especially poor, who is deprived of it. Only eduction is a tool which can eradicate the poverty of a poor family. Middle class and Upper class is very much aiding Indian GDP to grow. But think, if poor people will also start contributing, then our economy will be self sustaining for ever. Now, the situation is like poor at the one end and middle and Upper class at the other, stressing Indian economy by pulling in opposite directions.

There Needs To Be Help From Government Leaders, Community Leaders And Businesses....

idea posted by Business Management Consultant : I can provide you with Management Consulting & Counseling Services

There’s a lot that can be said and done about this. But NO child should ever have to look in the trash for food or to support themselves. That’s just terrible. That proves that the government and many citizens aren’t doing enough to help children or poor adults. Everybody needs help in this world. There can be many approaches to take on this but it has to be the right one. Various approaches need to be tested and tried to come up with a solid and sound solution.

Someone or an organization could promote and maintain a pro-business attitude, organize and facilitate regular business networking events, provide proactive programs to feed, shelter and help the poor, provide incentives to retain and grow valued enterprises in the community etc, etc…….

There needs to be quantitative and qualitative changes in the economy. It’s imperative for government leaders, policymakers, businesses, education and community leaders to work together on creating effective programs and policies for economic growth.

All round development is required. We have spent too much time, money and effort on rural and remote areas due to which the urban areas have been totally neglected.

Erase reservation

idea posted by Jaygopal Raghavan Marketing Manager, Landmark Group

If you notice over the last couple of years reservation has done more harm than good. It is reservation and its exploitation that is resulting in less deserving candidates getting jobs, in turn resulting in lower productivity, unrest in the form of strikes and lockouts and widening of the rich - poor gap.

Jobs should be given to deserving candidates irrespective of their caste, creed or religion. This would result in better productivity and a more harmonius industrial activity.
