Indian power sector is till struggling to give its full potential. We say we are developing at a very sustainable way & we fell happy about it. But, till date there are areas where people live in darkness, they haven't seen electricty from past 30 yrs. The govt. is aware of it & for name sake it says" electrification of areas is under process".

The Finance Minister has proposed doubling the allocation to power sector and the outlay for solar energy and also suggested tax sops for individual investment in the infrastructure sector. The allocation to power sector has been more than doubled to Rs 5,130 crore, while the Planned outlay for the solar energy has been raised by 61 per cent to Rs 1,000 crore.

Will just allocation of money help India to be electrified? Will it help to serve the needs of the public?

So, what other options the govt. can go for besides allocation of money? Give your ideas....

Involvement of private companies

Besides having their own policies & way of doing work the govt. should ask for the involvement ofthe private firms in acieving the targets. Involvement of private firms will speed up the process & also the work will be higher quality than what the govt. delivers.

So, to some extent the power sector should be privatized in order to have faster development in the industry. Further, privatization will give way to may innovation which will ultimately boom the sectors.

There is abundance of sunlight and wind which can be resourced and which is available for free and without harming the enviornment. The govt. should make it mandatory for big and small users to harness this power.
