Sales funnels are funny things. Sales leads flow through from the top and either convert to sales or fall out, as part of the sales process. Most sales professionals seem to accept the process and are resigned to the fact that only a given proportion of leads convert to sales. That means the marketing activities need to be expanded to increase sales. What are the different ways one can convert most of the leads to sales.

Social Media Marketing is a proven success story for companies like Dell. Dell claims that they have realized dollars out of their social media efforts. So cashing in on social platforms is very important especially before customers reduce Social Media to just Media. The best approach would be to integrate social media efforts with your traditional marketing strategies and campaigns and promulgate thought leadership. The only way we can do this is by understanding the key conversational indices and segmenting the market accordingly.

Yes i agree with Mr .Zion, Social networks are helping many companies to be successful. For instance Google uses social networks to make people slide into its sales funnels. So we should make use of the social network to improve our sales.

Customer research technique for one is very important. Substantial improvements (often 40% or more) are possible by just reviewing sales objections and then improving the sales and marketing process. Often at minimal cost. Using in depth,  impartial, and independent interviews of sales prospects that have failed to convert to sales at each stage of the sales processes can give a fair idea as to what went wrong. Knowing one's weakness and then working towards it surely lead to more hits than misses.

Most organizations don't have a marketing funnel; they have a sales funnel that looks more like a bucket with lots of holes in it where leads leak out. Marketing needs to create its own funnel to understand whether leads are sales ready or not.

The purpose of the marketing funnel is to bring leads into one spot and qualify them. By qualifying them, I mean that the leads are ready to talk to someone from a sales perspective. Then there is the hand-off process between marketing and sales. I find that connecting the marketing and sales funnel together is really a big challenge. You have to understand your sales process to know at what point the sales team views a lead as an opportunity and begins actively pursuing it.

Lead generation really is about building relationships. It's how can I help my sales team build relationships with the right people and the right companies. The marketing funnel creates sales-ready leads and nurtures the leads that aren't sales ready.

The bigger and better you make your marketing pipeline, ultimately the bigger and better you make your sales pipeline. In the end, this isn't about generating more leads; it's about generating actionable leads.

To convert a sales lead in to sales first try to introduce a few products instead of introducing several by which customer gets confused ,build trust and make your brand aware of to the customer,loyality will come automatically.

Good to have multiples and following up. Also, keep mapping the organization and members, most of the time is lost as homework in mapping out key personalities is not done. It is individuals in organizations, their decision making and influencing  people that fructify a sales channel, not the name of the organization.  As   people are involved, makes sense to keep in touch, give them updates and new technical broadsides, invites for User Group seminars and personal attention.

I guess, the PR angle - that is Personal Relations (an old term) must never be forgotten, come what may in terms of new cosmo or internet or cloud or hawa mahal based sales.  One bad relationship, and you will never know how and where your funnel got polluted by bad feedback.

Multiple prospects

I do agree with your idea parizad but I also feel that to improve the sales funnel one should make sure that each respective layer in the sales funnel never dries up. We should be able to recognize at which layer the company is in. Since it takes month and weeks for converting sales prospects into actual sales it is better to have multiple prospects in each layer  of the sales funnel.

FUNNEL IS NOTHING BUT FILTERING THE PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS INTO A PRODUCTIVE ONE .THIS PROCESS INVOLVES TOTAL TEAM WORK FROM THE TOP TO BOTTOM ESPECIALLLY THE SALES PERSONNEL WHO DRIVE THE ORGANIZATION.WITH

EVERY TEAM MEMBER GIVING THE CORPORATE GOAL INTO  A PRACTICAL REALISABLE GOAL OF CONSISTENT GROWTH YEAR AFTER YEAR FROM THE EXISTING CUSTOMER AND RETENTION OF EXISTING CUSTOMERS AND NEW ADDITION IS A MUST TO DRIVE THE GROWTH OF AN ORGANIZATION.

Another way is to closely associate the sales team with the Technical support group. Go through the queries sent by your clients, the type of problems they are facing, their exact pain areas and analyze them with your technical team and find out what solution you have in your product basket which you can offer those users to help them in their pain areas. If the Sales team does a good evaluation of the technical problems, easily one can find out good number of sales leads may be a repeat product or a new solution altogether

A very nice way to increase your sales funnel, is to go back to the basics. Look into the CRM and find out which all clients though can be good prospects but were not in a position to accomadate your offering due to some reason earlier or may be a misunderstanding of your sales guy which turned to be a null prospect, but we as Sales professionals are not in a position to know every details of each and every prospect, what they are doing, which order they have received etc and can be a prospective account for your company.
