1.Proper maintenance at requisite time..Avoid excessive usage of clutch.Proper inflated tyres. Adding fuel Additives to ensure effecient combustion.Turning off engine if required.Avoid hard acceleration. Acelarate & brake gradually.Avoid heating of the car as AC will take lot of energy to cool the passenger compartment. |

This is the best idea I have seen given here. So, many friends have give so many good good ideas, but one thing is in the root of every problem. If proper care has not been taken of the car, fuel efficiency will reduce anyway. The owner should do a regular check up of the vehicle...

Change your cars air filter at least every 6 months. Air filters get dirty from road dirt and bugs and deprive your engine of air that can led to poor combustion in your cylinders. This has really helped my car in saving fuel. |

Keep the tires properly
inflated. Check with the cars owners’ manual for the correct psi. Under
inflated tires will reduce your fuel mileage. |

Choose to buy mild hybrids next time. They can easily save you 8% on fuel bills, easily. The making of mild hybrid is as simple as getting rid of the starter motor and using the alternator(redesigned) as a starter. Only need some work with the component makers.

yes sarvesh you are right to some extent but the problem is much bigger than we perceive. Engineers being "technically proficient" in a hot speciality, or retrained does not guarantee a job in today's market. This problems is faced by many laid-off... |
