Currently the import duty is 104% for these cars. Government should consider reducing this import duty which would result in lesser price for hybrid cars. Also government should consider creating new facility for research for development of hybrid cars. The output of research can be used to manufacture these cars in india itself. Also the benefits of using hybrid cars should be popularised among the people by means of advertisement,banners. Hopefully this can help to increase the usage of hybrid cars in india. |

If there is more awareness created about the hybrid cars and also about its fuel efficiency in Indian roads, government and people can take a real initiative promoting new hybrid cars...

Indian consumers are now ditching bicycles and scooters for four-wheel personal vehicles. In my opinion, if ultra cheap and quality cars are produced in India, these hybrid cars will go viral in the Indian market, which will be solution for using less petrocars also. India’s Tata Motors starting selling the Nano last year. But the company has delivered just 10,500 units since the car hit Indian roads in July. According to newspapers, the Nano has been plagued by problems, such as protests by farmers to scrap plans for a new factory in eastern India, and a defect which caused some Nanos to catch fire. |
