Every party should declare their prime minister in advance and voting should be done for that candidate this will help us to choose a powerfull prime minster and we will not a have weak person at supreme seat of the country |

I agree if we know in advance that who is the candidate for a party who will be elected as PM once that party wins then we can vote for that candidate and the winner will be the clear favourite among the general mass rather than just voting for the party without knowing whom will that party select as prime minister of the country.
Yeah.. A prime minister candidate should be projected before the elections. Its always a one leader who can change the things. We can take many ex of great leaders from our history itself who actually thought beyond the limit...
We need to know our PM candidate(leader) before we select any one party...
Yes if the common man is given the choice to vote for PM along with the candidate, he/she will choose who ever they think is the best man for the top position in the country and will also be a fair choice that will be done by the people and not by anyone else.

2009 election onwards there should be a system (online voting etc) to ensure that people staying away from their hometown or during trips may cast vote for their constituencies and raise their voice to bring a change....... |

There is a strong idea, but any suggestions for implementing it?
At least if this idea is brought into action then the NRI community could be able to participate.
Yes as we are going to 21st century...there should be ONLINE VOTING with VOTER ID card nos as passwords..Need not to go polling Booth...No booth captures...a lot will change...side by side traditional voting should also be allowed in this way you will get very high percentage of voters
Yes i agree with this idea, and this will be really helpful as most of the people don't go and vote and most of the young people do this, they never really feel that they should go and vote, and yes there should be online voting system, i once read in an article where in Estonia or some other country there is online voting system, and the voting percentage was more than 90%, and India should also implement this to get some fair results in the elections in future.

In countries like Spain, France, Belgium and Switzerland. where voters have a blank vote option which is not in favor of any candidate, but the vote is still counted. I think voters should be given the cast negative vote. where a voter casting negative vote would result in subtraction of a vote from a candidate's total as opposed to traditional votes that add to a candidate's total. |

49-O rule does exist in our constitution but it is not the way Arjita has mentioned it. It does permit you to not to vote for any candidate but there is no re-polling and cancellation of candidature (refer to links I am appending).
Having said that this would be a good addition to the rule. Repolling may be expensive but the return of this rule would be worthwhile.
"49-O" is a system in our constitution, as per the 1969 act, in section " 49-O" that a person can go to the polling booth, confirm his identity, get his finger marked and convey the presiding election officer that he doesn't want to vote anyone!
Yes such a feature is available, but obviously these leaders have never disclosed it.
Why should you go and say " I VOTE NOBODY"... because, in a ward, if a candidate wins, say by 123 votes, and that particular ward has received "49-O" votes more than 123, then that polling will be cancelled and will have to be re-polled. Not only that, but the candidature of the contestants will be removed and they cannot contest the re-polling, since people had already expressed their decision on them.
This would bring fear into parties and hence look for genuine candidates for their parties for election. This would change the way; of our whole political system.... it is seemingly surprising why the election commission has not revealed such a feature to the public....
Use your voting right for a better INDIA....

Voter should be given the power to cast multiple votes, Say if 3 candidate is standing. Voter should be given choice of to cast vote for 1 or 2 candidates among the three if he wishes too, |

Hey Sasi, voting is very unlike creative idea presentations to clients, where minimum of three ideas need to be present, and the client chooses the best idea depending on his product or brand's image to its target audience.
Casting multiple vote would be sacrilege. For a change one has to be dead sure as whom to choose, coz they are too many half baked cocksures already in the marathon.
If Elected person changes the party then second largest party should be elected automatically
|
|
On each ballot paper , There should be a clear note in writing saying if a person once elected changes the party before the next election then the second largest party candidate will be deemed as elected automatically and so on, this will ensure that people's money is not wasted in election again. such candidates would be barred for next 10 years from fighting any election at any level if the candidate dies during the tenure then the same party would nominate some other purpose necessary laws should be amended to that effect as a part of professional code of conduct if the

The power of recalling the candidate on the grounds of poor performance, because that will create accountability and necessary pressure on the politicians. |

Yes Suhel most of them think that these politicians should be held accountable , if they are not performing they should be removed, and most of them are coming with the same idea in this topic, so i guess this should be implemented and see how it goes.....i hope it will surely make them perform to their best.

Parliament should have a computerised system with a formated performance evaluation sheet that can be accessed over the internet by the voters to enter their opinion about the performance level of the Members of Parliament. To enable this every voter in the constituencies should be provided with an identity card bearing unique identification number like that in credit crads and access controls with password and exclusive secret code to prevent wilful misuse. The performanace index of every MP and his political party as a group, shall be viewable by the MPs and visible to the community. The system can also be used to collect opinion of the voters of the constiuency on policy matters being taken up in the Parliament. |

The fact that there are no elections without voters simply means that the voters are the core of the electoral process. Thus, the voters should have the right to un-vote (REVERSE their decisions) at any time after the elections if (and only if) the elected persons do not act as previously promised. |
1
|
Yes this should happen as voters are the core process in the electoral system, it will be very good that if a system like this is introduced where the elected candidate can be deprived from his post if he is not performing as he promised, always there will be a wake up call to him that he should perform or else step down and others do the job..

I suggest to have a Governmment in the Centre comprising the groups consisitng all MPs from each State as one group. The MPs elected from the States from various regional parties will form a single group / bench and function in the style of Directors of a Corporate. They will discuss and take decisions jointly within the group on majority votes and take it up in the Parliament. There will no political discussions in the parliamament. Of course, the decisons within the State group and over all decisions in the Parliament will be influenced by the majority decision in each group, and the majority decisons of all groups put together, then that is exactly needed in a democratic set up. There will no no ruling party or opposition party. No defection, no crossing over from one group to other. Voting in Parliamant shall be done by the States group as one entity. However, the number votes of each State will be equal to the number of MPs in the State. Prime Minister is to be chosen from one among the members of Lok Sabha or Rajyas Sabha or it can be an external person who can later be nominated to Rajya sabha. Ministers will be chosen from the Panel provided by the Prime minister. Adopting the above system we can get over the current muddle of politics and lacunae of coalition governments. Please also have a look in my posting on this topic in the commnunity Social and Community affairs and ICACO. |

Third front or else; future of the country depends on how various regional parties get grouped together themselves to form a government with or without support of one or the other national parties.
The outcome of such coalition will surely depend on common the acceptance of; initially a P.M and then the Ministers from various parties in the coalition.
It will not be surprising that there will be many PMs, Deputy PMs and panel of ministers in rotation during the tenure.
If it happens to be a ten party coalition, we may see a new P.M and panel of Ministers in every six months. With so many Independants also in the fray, we will have dozens of PMs and every MP in the coaliton a Minister inwaiting.
Look to where, the politicians hijacked the country's fate.
(May God save this country).
In
There basically two type of majority vote banks, both have sets and subsets of the other.
1. By sensitizing the gullible in the majority religion always keeping the country divided.
2. By showing the carrot to the mass majority poor, ensuring they continue to remain so.
The art lies in palying with both vote banks at the same time, puppets are anyway blind.

If a leader in democracy changes his party or support the opposition for the sake of money or ministerial chair, the voter should have right to retrench him and the elected member should be made to resign [but i do not know how can it be done?], this would control the horse trading or corruption in democracy to a greater extent!! |

The idea is already explained in my earlier posting here and posted under 'ICACO' Indian Citizens Advisory Community Organization. The basic idea is that MPs elected from each State form a group / bench in the Parliament and function like directors of a corporate within the group. There will be no ruling party or opposition parties. The MPs from State will vote as one one group. The weightage of vote of each State will be equal to the number of sitting MPs of the State. Prime Minister is choses by majority vote casted by these State groups. Ministers are elected from the panel given by the Prime Minister. By and by, the electorate will chose persons to Federal Government based on their quality and not on political leaning. |
