To my benefit: I will always opt for the latest feasable technology to be implemented. To my organisation: Its a fate, I have to work in my managers decision. To my client: This is not in our hands, the clients preference is first. Cheers - Yuva |

that was very good.. indeed project implementations is dependant on the stake holders, however sticking to the SDLC, company/team implementing the systems expertise holds key as clients are proposed solutions that support companys current workforce and expertise with a little considerations to the current trends in the SDLC.

Client's infrastructure to support any of the suggested technology platform and their choice/alignment/preference for a technology are very important |

I give importance to user friendliness means means how my client wants to use it.

Most companies are looking for solutions that will grow as they grow. They don't want to invest in the purchase and training on a product that they will have to dump when their demands increase. |

well, apart of the aboe mentioned points, another thing that shoud be considered is the kind of interfaces/applications that our new application has to interact with, as system/product integration is also importnace.
Step 1 - Identify support for OLAP/OLTP scenarios in the project.
Step 2- Identify minimum response time requirements.
Step 3- Weightage based on POCs constructed under various technologies or existing data or previous experience.

Hi, With all the apove points mentioned. Its also very important what your organization is experts in. If your team/orgnization has expertise in the technology then i think you can go ahead with it. Regards, Hari. |

Unfortunately I couldnt type in the complete text, as it says "The length of support text too long". However, you can check my answer @ http://rohitontech2.blogspot.com/2009/03/question-what-all-decision-parameters.html

The technology platform selection is not easy. You just cannot jump into a technology one fine morning. You first need to analyze what are the resources (both human and others) required, what are the cost to be incurred if you follow the technolgy, what features are available with it, its performance and based upon all these parameters, you decide the optimal point. |

There can nothing be better that finding a stable and proven frameworks or library that can make the complex components easy to develop. For example, if you are needing search, open source search engine lucene which works well with java justifies choice of java |
