Over a 1,100 kilocalories per square meter per day is utilized in a big hotel which is a good percentage of what a big house uses. A big hotel can use up to 15,000 lighting fixtures, 20 per cent of which are always on. Maximum waste of energy takes place at laundry as much as 60% of all the energy used. This is an area where the Hotels should concentrate. They can raelly bring about a difference for the world. |

Yes i agree with adesh here that most of the luxury hotels waste too much of energy, and all most all the hotels are Energy inefficient and just to make sure the customer experience is great lot of energy is wasted, too many lightings are lit even when it is unnecessary, and really one should look into the matter and try and resolve, as today every body is talking about going green, i guess the hotels should follow this policy.

The total food unconsumed by a hotel is 400-500 Kgs that could comfortably feed 1,200 people. So the Solid waste released usually measures not less than: 4 to 5 tons. Proper action should be taken it should be disposed off properly. |

I THINK THERE IS LOT OF POTENTIAL IN THIS FOOD WASTE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM. AS IT IS MENTIONED THE FOOD WASTE GENERATION IS SO HUGE, IN SUCH CASE POWER GENERATION FROM FOOD WASTE IS VERY GOOD OPTION. APPROX FROM 1 TON OF FOOD WASTE 80 CUBIC METER GAS CAN BE GENERATED, WHICH GENERATES ABOUT 120 UNITS PER DAY OF ELECTRICITY.

Multiply just the domestic consumption with 500 rooms, and the total water consumed equals to 600,000 ltrs per day, which is 0.1 per cent of what a single home uses. Just imagine the Waste.... |

600,000 Litres of water consumption per day for 500 rooms works out to a colossal consumption of 1200 litres per room per day. Apart from the guests who need to be educated in the judicious use of this scarce commodity,it is the staff who must be cautioned about it's misuse through proper communication and implementation & installation of a wellplanned water consumption pattern & use of water saving gadgets in all areas possible. Apart from a controlled consumption plan,it is equally important to recycle all used water 100 % in all areas possible thereby effectively controlling the consumption and reutilization in the best manner possible.

Total detergents, cleaning agents & chemicals consumed is anywhere close to 1,200 Kg. All of these are toxic and when go to sewage without treatment causes pollution. Toxic chemicals used to keep the hotels free from insects is also an area of concern. |

THERE WERE HUGE QUANTITY OF WATYER CONSUMPTION IN HOTEL INDUSTRY. THIS WATER CAN BE PROPERLY TREATED & RECYCLED BACK FOR REUSE FOR FLUSHING, CHILLING SYSTEM, GARDENING ETC. |
