AI helps in adding more computational power to a particular feature or problem. This may result in moderate or substantial improvements to preexisting intelligence. (AI does not have an upper limit on computational capacity; we do.). The speed of computational power is predicted to continually increase exponentially, and decrease exponentially in cost, every 12-24 months, in accordance with Moore’s Law. |

The Big Message
- AI is back. Development leaders from Microsoft, Netscape, General Electric, and Disney discussed numerous examples of AI enabled products and product enhancements.
- Today's AI is about new ways of connecting people to computers, people to knowledge, people to the physical world, and people to people.
- Today's AI is enabled in part by technical advances and in part by hardware and infrastructure advances. The world-wide-web is here and truly gigantic high-resolution displays are coming.
Today's AI invites investment in systems that:
- Save mountains of money, through applications such as resource allocation, fraud detection, database mining, and training.
- Increase competitiveness, through applications that provide, for example, on-screen help and low-cost rationale capture.
- Create new capabilities and new revenue streams, in areas such as medicine and information access.
- AI is no longer a one-horse field. Newer technical ideas, with labels such as agents, Bayes nets, neural nets, and genetic algorithms, combine with older ideas, such as rule chaining, to form a powerful armaments. All are important; none, by itself, is the answer.

All said and done, digital technology deals with yes or no, 0 or 1. The true of achievement of AI would be to emulate the all too human ability of deciding on the corre4ct shade of grey - not just black of white - in making a decision. |

I think this is the prime reason to use A.I. Computers today have more computing power than ever before. Applications like SETI use millions of networked computers to process unimaginable quantities of data. Such power is not really needed in most everyday applications. As computers are programmed devices , they can be programmed with all the information available at present , and with the best possible logic and intelligence configured in them. There are computers which have defeated the greatest chess master ever , Garry Kasparov. What we need is computers and software that can build on this platform to evolve things which even the mind of man cannot conceive. What we need are computers which can learn on their own ; this is the only way they can improve what man has put into them. Neural networks do exactly that ; given enough data , they can process it to learn for themselves , without any human intervention. In the process they do more than humans can , more than we thought even the computers could !
