The traditional media do soak up enormous chunks of budget, but with fairly predictable costs to produce the creative ad units. The vast array of Interactive/digital and other alternative offerings opens up a far wider range of creative possibilities - but with unpredictable cost effects.

A lot of organizations are afraid to use emerging / alternative media due to the fact that it's all still unproven. While there are some success stories out there, people are still trying to figure out how to leverage these new channels effectively.

Many corporations who have succeed using traditional media/marketing strategies in the past are reluctant to reduce investment in what empirically has worked and increase spend in mediums they may not fully understand.
