Time Management is also a big challange.

In addition to Saurabh, moving the multi project to higher accuracy levels and quality standards as per prescribe time is quite difficult. Every minute of a project is crucial for its success i.e, managing time is also a big challange.

Balkrishna i am completely agree with you that time management is a big challenge, each & every moment is important for the project while handling the project , if the project is not scheduled properly than project may not be delivered on time & while different project at a time it is very difficult for a manager to manage the as he has to consider each aspect of the project.

Proritizing the project / program management tasks.

I would say prioritizing the work from multiple projects would be a challenging one. Because you get too many things to address, where there are lot of chances to get messed (when to do what) with those.

These challenges can be tapped down only by experience, but for sure.

Yes i completely agree with you that prioritizing the multi project is big issue. Each individual project is has a certain characteristic feature which is important for the project so project manager has to take care all of them at a time which is quite difficult.

Scheduling of multi project

idea posted by Ajay Kashyap Project Manager, Polaris Software

If the multi project is not schedule properly than multi projects will not have “absolute” time constraints. It means that proper scheduling of the multi project & to manage the stress of the project deadline and the project issues with creative planning, alternatives analysis,is also big challenge so that project completed successfully.

Dialogue between the Project Head and the Team Leader

idea posted by Ashish Gandhi CEO/MD/Director, Creative Director, PostBox Communications

it has been noticed multiple times that the major failures happen because of miscommunication or no communication or communication gap between the 2 authorities who has to commence and complete the project.

- Project Manager [he could be managing multiple projects which may would hamper his/her judgement and may bring down the decision making abilities. which may lead to no communication, hap-hazard work distribution and panic]

- Team Leader [he has to be most alert of all the problems and difficulties the team may face. he doesnt need to wait for people/team to come to him for solutions but he has to reach out to the team members ad make them aware of maximum possible problems and also make sure of the solutions of those problems are provided to the team.] apart from solving the problems, he/she has to make sure that the team is comfortable and relaxed at any point in time. people management skills are very important while working with the team.

in my opinion, Communication wins over a lot of issues and problems ...

Ineffective communication

Thanks to technology advancement, there is no shortage of information flow. But project manager faces problem in providing the right information to the right people, partly because of the organizations do not cultivate good communication and partly because he don’t know what and who are “right.” in respect of multi project.

Unrealistic deadlines

idea posted by Ajay Kashyap Project Manager, Polaris Software

Many project managers while handling multi project ,lament the fact that they are assigned projects and given deadlines. Of course, there are absolute deadlines for projects such as regulatory compliance or marketing events, but many dates are tied to factors unrelated to a individual project’s scope i.e., end of quarter, budget cycle, boss’s vacation etc.

Managing the deliverables of the different projects is a big challenge

In the multiproject environment, we need to focus mainly on deliverables which are important to be completed on time. If you miss the deliverabe, that leads to more cost to the project

How to allocate task and resource between multiprojects.

idea posted by Saurabh Suman Project Lead, i2 Technologies

In my point of view allocating task & resources between multi project is quite difficult as we have to consider each aspect related to individual project while making any decision related to project.
