Regression testing:

idea posted by Kiran Kumar Reddy Business Analyst, SAP

In my point of view when project goes on expanding ,the regression testing work simply becomes uncontrolled. Pressure to handle the current functionality changes, previous working functionality checks and bug tracking.

In a product based company, when ever new enhancements are adding,it is very much difficult to maintain the regression suite,at this point of time automation is verymuch help ful,

Yes I'm also agree with Kiran, It's lil bit difficult to track all the changes....better to use Automation tool in such conditions. Because Manually you can't test the whole application on every build.

Quality, Timeliness, Reliability

I feel that in both Manual and Automation Testing the manjor is concern is on Quality and Timeliness.

I strongly oppose that "Testers are Just meant to start the Test planning after obtaining requirements"

The Tester is supposed to measure/validate the quality of requirement that was given and then think of whether to automate it or not.

coming to Manual Testing. Manual Testing holds good till regression in terms of quality  but while regression is process it is the concern about the quality of the manual testing due to repetetiveness. But coming to automation we cannot completely rely on the automation tool as the tool is again just a software which is not so reliable

so I feel the major challanges faces in Manual and Automation Testing are Quality, Timeliness and Reliablity.

Automation testing have many challenges

In automation testing, its necessary for the tester, to have the programming knowledge. Automation testing is not recomnded for low budget project.

But Manual testing can be used in both Low and high budget projects. For regression testing we can use automation testing tools insted of manual testing becuase its excute the test case very quickly.

I always support automation testing tool for the testing.

Risks - Automation Vs Manual

idea posted by Sathish Kumar Rathinam QA-Executive

Risks in manual testing are:

Time consuming, If testers are lazy then some important funtionality may be missed out, If Time is a factor then obviously cost will increase, and more resources should be added.

Risks in Automation are:

Fist of all we can only automate long run projects, and products. We can't automate all the applications due to time factor. Because autiomation of a certain application may take up to 10 times the cost of manual testing.

So we need to identify which projects can we automate. And for automation we need resources should have knowledge in domain, automation tools and Programming knowledge.

When we comming into conclution based on the analysis of this only we can select automation and manual.

Testing always under time constraint:

idea posted by Kiran Kumar Reddy Business Analyst, SAP

Whenever the order comes from boss, tester simply focuses on task completion and not on the test coverage and quality of work. There is huge list of tasks that a tester need to complete within specified time. This includes writing, executing, automating and reviewing the test cases which create hurdle for tester.

What do you say guys?

Yes, i will also have same opinion,if the project is working fine then no issues,

if there is any issue is production, then they will catch the testers only

One test team under multiple projects:

idea posted by Sameer Joshi Project Manager, ADP

I completely agree with ideas given by Kiran, but in addition to that when project manager is handling multi project than Challenges arises to keep track of each task.,& communication challenges. which may results in failure of one or both the projects.

Relationship with developers

idea posted by Mohit Aggarwal Sales/BD Manager, Oracle

In my opinion Relationship with developers big challenge. It requires very skilled tester to handle this relation positively and even by completing the work in testers way. There are simply hundreds of excuses developers or testers can make when they are not agree with some points. For this tester also requires good communication, troubleshooting & analyzing skills.
