Today, the "Right to education" law was passed. But, though the fundamental right promises one teacher for 30 students in primary schools and basic infrastructure in all schools within three years, it is hard to imagine at this point keeping the current appalling ground situation in mind.

In many schools of India, still, there is only one teached for hundreds of students. Many school doesn't have the basic infrastructure like drinking water or toilet. In all this kind of problems, it is not easy to implement this act. So, I would like to know from all of you, what more challenges are there for the implementation of "Education for all"?

More teachers required to meet the optimum teacher-student Ratio

idea posted by Sarika Singh Assistant Professor, BIT

Today, in Indian schools more teachers required to meet the optimum teacher-student Ratio. The govt to appoint 12 Lakh teachers within the next 6 months. Because of less salary, people don't opt for this career. So, government also will have to increase their salary structure. Any person taking teaching as a career in India, normally is that person, who could not do anything in his career. Because of this, we are lacking quality teachers. So, government needs to have teachers with minimum a B.Ed degree and training within 5 years. Basic School infrastructure should also be improved within 3 years and 6000 Model Schools has  to be set up

gr8 views sarika, u got the bull's eye !!  Indeed the most important challenge is to get good teachers who are really passionate about teaching, upbringing the society and India as a whole.  And according to me the main reason why we are not able to produce good teachers in great numbers is the the remuneration and the other facilities which people in other professions get.  Hence teaching is not looked as a full fledged profession.  Barring a few, only those people join teaching who are not able to make it to the mainstream jobs.  But fortunately the totally grim situation is changing day by day and people like Kapil Sibal are leaving no stones unturned to achieve it.  So we all should join hands and help India and the world a better place to live.

Methods are to be defined to brind the children to schools

idea posted by Kumara Swamy Project Associate, IIIT-H

One side there is a requirement of teachers and infrastructure and the other side is how to make the children to move to the schools. I hear one of my friend who is working in a remove village that he will go to school everyday and ask the villagers to send there children to school, but the parents won't send them to the schools. Hardly he could able to catch 25 to 30 students in the school. He expresses that bringing the children to the school is another biggest problem.

The main problem with parents to send their children in slums or remote villages is that they loose the money they get through children. Many of the parents whose life depends on daily labor prefer their children go to work than school.

I think if the govt pay such children, like around 300/- per month then more students turn down to schools. By doing this the parents will not loose their income through children and they have no problem in sending their children to schools.

The Local Government Should Penalize The Parents who's Children Are Not Schooling

idea posted by George Varghese Proprietor, Jecyees

I am a Farmer from Kerala. I have agriculture land in neighboring states. I was surprised to see the child labor  there. I have offered education expense for few children and  I could observe that they are not ready for schooling, but enjoy life with cigarettes and  alcoholism. I am very much happy to hear the announcement of Indian  Prime minister declaing the right of education for children until 14 years. Now the implementation has to come from the local government. If this could happen, we are going to achieve the cent percent literacy in India in near future. Jai Hind

BEAUROCRACY OR BABUGIRI OR CORRUPTION

idea posted by Nitin M Aras Head/VP/GM-Tech. Support, ODTIN Food Solutions Pvt Ltd

Its a history ... whenever any rule and regulation impose for betterment ... corruption or babugiri starts as a counter part.

Clear implementation plan and control schedule has to be imposed to remove such hurdles.

Quality to be maintained

Thanks for the referral Ms Sarika,

One thing that has to be checked when education is made for all is that the quality should be same for every one.I think this requires that the teaching staff as well as the other staff should be given proper training.Syllabus should be defined, which should be followed in all the schools at a similar pattern.
