It’s no secret that the advent of social media has got the consumers bang in the middle of action as they no longer sit at the periphery. Today, they do all the talking when it comes to brands. While brands and brand marketers seem to have got a grasp of the changing relationship. The landscape of the inclusion of technology is changed today. The agencies have to move out of the transactional mindset and look to embrace building long term relationships with consumers.

So in this case, what do you think are the challenges from social media to brands?

Brands are facing make or break situation.

idea posted by Meena Deshmukh Product/Brand Manager, Videocon Inds

It seems Brands are facing a make or break situation from social media because of which, these days brands seem to be doing a better job of listening to consumers than agencies and that’s a cause of concern. I think now agencies must become architects of communities where they have to form a consensus and create empathy. They have to own the relationship and not impose

The internet is just a big social network.

People with brand have repeat customers and other people doing the marketing for them. Once you figure out how to get others to spread the word about how good you are without you asking then you have won.

Buying decision still with customer

idea posted by KALIYAMOORTHY Oil & Gas Area Coordinator, Undisclosed

I do get message, every now and then , for example, Blackberry at Rs 33000 or Nokia at Rs 23000. One way social media such as mobile, internet such as facebook, twitter, stumble, digg, etc) ,tv focus on Brands, buying decision is, still, with the Consumers. Social media gives sizable pressure to local markets to compete their items at bargaining rate with more value. Thanks to social media for creating a strong market undercurrent so that the local products match to the brands available today, lest others buy the brands. This healthy compettion will grow both local & brands, whichever is suiting to the pocket & tastes of the consumers.

Hi Kaliyamurthi, yes.... you are correct. A promotional message from any of social medial (either from brand or form new comer) flash with a sense to "sell" some thing. every body knows that is post/comment/tweet/network update to promote a product/service/idea and this will make at least 150% over commitment about its associate.

Now its up to customer, how he motivate by a promotional advertisement. End decision is still safe in their hands. A advertisement is like to flash a name/option in customer mind with sensible presentation.

Thanks

Online Reputation Management

With social media gaining importance, it becomes very important for brands to have online reputation management in place and constantly monitor for social mentions.

Consumers have more power in their hands than ever before and it is important to address their concern promptly and genuinely.
