There will be many cases where people will resist the idea of re-development. They will be having their interest in the part of land to be redeveloped & thus will not allow the contractors t demolish the other buildings. Thus, small interests of people may become a hurdle for property redevelopment. So, before going for a redevelopment do proper negotiations |

With regards to the NH Widening in Kerala, I have something to say. It is good to develop the infrastructure like this but the traffic study indicated only a 45m wide road requirement for another 10yrs while the officials want it 60m and that is the real cause of most problems. Not to mention how much money goes into the pockets of the ministers or others. I am a civil engineer and I know the standards as well. Also by the NH widening in Kerala, I will loose some of my land but for what I loose, the price of the remaining land will go up very high. I am loosing land of commercial value.
Most People are resistant to changes in their set ways of life. Therefore a lot of study and planning has to be carried out to convince them that the change is in their favour. After all this expensive exercise the project should be economically viable too.
People who have to be displaced have become extremely aware of market trends and do not easily accept Promoters' terms or promises. Thus all township planning must include their aspirations and expectations which is a very difficult task.
I agree with you on this topic. People's intersest those affecting the developemnt is one of the main concern. Recent example is the peoples strike in Kerala againaist the NH widening.

During construction lot of natural sources are used such as sand and clay for bricks, which is very good for crop production. Fine sand received form river, Now rivers have major dams to produce electricity, and in reservoir silt deposits. Which is not reached in plain areas and promote the illegial mining.

The Property Re-development serves mainly two puropose, one, make availble dwellings who can afford it and two, ringing cash registers for developers. The most important challenge is rehabilitation of original inhabitators. They must be heard, and their grievances redressed properly. |
