Friends, from the debate which I have created before I came to know that many people are facing the workplace privacy issue which is impacting the employee relations. If this continuous it will result in conflicts between employees and management. Employer response to problems of drug and alcohol abuse and security concerns will create conflicts with employee expectations of privacy in the workplace. The absence of a single clearly defined statute on workplace privacy issues will mean that the current common law definitions of privacy will be resolved through privacy complaints in the form of privacy litigation, gradually providing guidance to employers on permissible and inappropriate practices. |

The foundations of healthy and sustainable employee relations are "Value" of demonstrating mutual trust with employees through consistent, regular and transparent communication about management vision, thought process and various decisions related to business & people. Most of the time employee relations goes haywire (off late such incidents has increased) because of the leadership failure in taking employees for granted and inconsistency in "walk the talk". Bad Employee relations is Management & Leadership failure and not otherwise. I have experienced myself in different organisation and cultures and trhe common thread has been Lack of consistent and transparent 2 way communication Hope it is sounding bell to Leaders who are manipulative and indulges in cheap politics for ulterior motives and showing their indispensibility at the cost of break of organisation image and cultural threads. So bottom line is - "Bad Leaders-bad employee relations; Good Leaders-Good employee relations.....................rest is just sementics. |

Friends, due the economic downturn many companies have changed their policies that they were following days together. The main issue is the agreement they get from employees. They started losing trust on their employees. So nowadays companies are asking their employees to get into an agreement that he will work for the company for some years. I feel this policy is becoming a big issue and is disturbing the employee relation climate. |

I agree with Gargi here.. The policies that companies follow today creates disinterest among employees. Whether it is tranparency or implementation of the policies, any glitch in the system causes unrest among people.

Enthusiasm, Loyalty, Devotion , Team Spirit etc. which are driving forces for efficient and productive workforce. if employees are not recognised as partners in progress and taken into confidence in strategy and implementation the above mentioned driving forces will start to vanish.

Recent economic downturn & the subsequent job cuts, pay cuts, etc have changed the way employees, employers and the job seekers think. Employers started thinking baout every pie spent, employees no longer are feeling secure, and the job seekers are worried. It is a kind of scenario where employers are on the demanding side. But, things will never be the same for ever. Hence, the emloyer who takes care of the employees, who give a feeling of security to the employees will have long term benefits. The urgent issue to be addressed today is that an employer give a sense of security, caring and belongingness to the employees. (since employees now understand how tough life can become) |

Recently I met one young lady who is working as HR Executive, who was to attend an close relative's marriage that too on sunday, was allocated job of interwiewing few candidates. After finishing her job at office attended the marriage without much interest.Throughout my discussion she was showing the signs of not beloging to organisation she was working. When I asked who will do the induction to the selected candidates, her reply was very short this is not my job there is another person, these managements are never happy with our work, they complain that our teams are not preforming, we are forced to do all our subordinate's work in addition to our work, but there is no appreciations for our hard work ,when management achieve their targets it's more burden on us because increase work pressure as organisations procure more orders from their costumers.I concluded that every word HR Executive expressed is going to perculate down the order thus raisng resenment ratio ,for entire reason for such feeling is lack of senior management analysing skills. |

Dear friend, the biggest issue that emerges in the employee relations is the pay hike during current times. As the market rebounds, companies will do what it takes to retain their top talent. However, more money does not guarantee happier employees or increased employee loyalty. Until employees are treated as people with families and lives again, and not as numbers on a payroll or budget sheet, engagement will continue to drop. |
