Pitched roofing

idea posted by Anjali Sinha Construction-Heavy, Sobha Developers

They have a slope of more than 10 degrees to the horizontal Surface. The most common shape of roof is symmetrical pitched roof, and the slope of roof varies according to the span, climatic conditions, types of roof covering etc. In areas of heavy snowfall, steeper slopes of 1: 1.5 or 1: 1 are provided to reduce incidence of load on roof. Pitched roofs are generally constructed of wood or steel. Steel trusses (frames) and rolled steel sections are used in construction of pitched roofs.

As everybody is talking about advantages of a particular roof

It is constructed in a very short time.
It does not require weather covering and water proofing treatment.
This roof has no problem of drainage, rainy water and snow.

Self-supported steel roofing

idea posted by Sandeep Junjarwad Zonal Manager - Marketing, Proflex Systems

There is also arch-shaped self-supported steel roofing for large industries and warehousing construction. This involves on-site fabrication and installation of steel rolled panels. Gives an almost zero-leakage, zero-maintenance roofing system. In fact since i saw this topic, i would like to add that, we (Proflex Roofing Systems) have been doing this in India from the last 7 years. Seaming operation is used for panel interlocking and no nuts, bolts, joints, overlaps are used. Installation speeds of up to 15000 sq. ft can be achieved per day.

These self-supported roofing systems do not need any truss-purlin work. This is directly supported on the end-beams on the column-beam structure.

Flat roofs

idea posted by Anjaneyula Reddy Construction-Heavy, DLF

As Flat roofs are the common roofing techniques that is happening in India, they have a slope from 1 degree to 5 degrees. These roofs are constructed in the same way as floor is. The roof acts much in the same way as a level plate form to support the load. This roof differs from intermediate floor in view of top finish called as Terracing. This terracing protects roof from adverse effects of rain, snow, heat etc.  and it has advantages like

It is comparatively safer than other types of roofs.

construction and maintenance is simpler and more economical,

provides better light, ventilation and architectural appearance.

So this is the best and the most happening roofing technique in India, It is seen everywhere for a reason right!!!  hope this helps.
