Soil and rock sampling

idea posted by Anjaneyula Reddy Construction-Heavy, DLF

Observations of soil and rock types encountered during site investigations should be integrated with all site findings and correlated with the local geologic environment. The goal of the site assessment is to determine the nature and extent of contamination. The quality and integrity of samples, sample locations, and other field observations will strongly influence interpretation of site conditions. Sample collection, management, and analysis must be done according to the specified procedures.

Site investigation is basicaly done for engineering purpose.

Mainly to know the load bearing capacity of the soil above which the structure comes.

It helps the designer to design the foundation abd select the type of foundation.

The site investigation is for various purpose such as detail site investiagtion for design, tendering, pre construction and even during constuctions and following are some site investigation techniques are normally used

a. Visual inspections, b. Surveying, c. Geotechnical Soil Investigation, d. Geophysical Soil Invetigation

In the reference of geo technical investigation ,i will say for designing the foundation of any structure bearing capacity is very important factor for this PLT and SPT tests are most important for shallow foundations.

Analysing ground water table

idea posted by VIMALAN Construction-Construction Management, PARSVNATH DEVELOPERS LTD

Whenever starting the project we are going for soil testing ,but if analysing the position of ground water table we can know whether the area is coming into consideration of seismic load i.e)Earthquake load ,as well as fertility of soil, yield of water, depth of water.
